All aspects of Dales country life are covered, from lead mining to knitting. Well worth a visit. The lady on the Reception was most helpful and friendly. Would recommend you have a chat to her, she is a mine of information.

Very impressive country museum that presents the history of the area extremely well. Lovely and friendly staff explain how to best use your time visiting the museum. Very good cafe next door in the bike hire shop. Well worth a visit to both

This was an interesting way to spend a couple of hours and gave an insight into Dales life in earlier times. Some good mining exhibits and much more. Ticket lasts a week so you can revisit if you want to.

We popped down to have a look and see the exhibition. Quite expensive for adults but the museum is love,y with some brilliant bits and pieces. The textile exhibition was amazing . Some fabulous work.

Hello. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your visit. I'm not sure which open spaces you refer to. The craftsmen exhibits are displayed in the form of workshops which have an excellent range of period tools which highlight the how self sustaining each village in...More

Thanks for your review. It's good to hear you enjoyed your visit. The Viking ring is one of our prize artefacts and has a great story, having been found by a farmer digging a drainage ditch. Hope to see you again at some point.

Thanks for your comments. The Calendar Girls exhibition followed their story from left to right, with the original calendar on the left and the film and musical on the right. Sorry if that seemed confusing. We're in the middle of re-labelling our permanent galleries, so...More

Dogs are welcome to the site and into the shop and information areas. Not in the café or the museum though.
