Lovely place with lots to do and great things to see .Loved the gardens and castle. Some fabulous places to eat and drink, our pick being the Market Tavern and if you like Indian cuisine Sherkahn is the place .Amazing food. Also a short drive to the coast.

Total waste of time the market has been ruined by new management no venders show up. Maybe the rents have been put up which would be par to the course with Northumberland Estates who i believe own the market place.

Popped in here for a visit late on a Thursday afternoon.
What a waste of time.
Just a few craft stalls and no food stalls.
No atmosphere what so ever.
Asked one of the locals if the food stall were at the Saturday market- and was told no. She also informed me it was a waste of time going.

Thursday visit, an absolute waste of time. Hardly any stalls, with none of real note. To call this a market must be a trade description offence. My advice is don't go it's not worth it. Sad to see that this whole area seems to be pretty poor with no shopping of real note, unless you want your hair cut, nails done , or have a coffee. Was here a few years ago and the vibe was more upbeat than now. Will I be back? probably not.

Very poor with chintzy merchandise. I guess the rents are so high now it only works for traders selling low quality product.

The reason why it is possible you may be disappointed with Alnwick market is quite simply that it is run by a private company charging up to 10 times what other municipality-run UK markets charge and it is unaffordable to local exhibitors. The quality, diversity and number of stalls is poor. if you, you know. it is a blight on tourism and reflects badly on the town. I am surprised the Duke of Northumberland and his advisors don't intervene, especially with the increase of visitors expected to the town thanks to his £15 million recent investment with the much anticipated opening of Lilidorei in March.

I guess there may be around 20-30 stalls offering a range of items from food (delicious pies), arts and grafts, pictures, books etc. There are cafes on the perimeter where you can sit and stake stock.

Really enjoyed the Saturday Alnwick market. Had not been for 12 years so was worried it would have stopped.
Nice wee atmosphere and good range of stalls. Really enjoyable Saturday morning activity!
