Our second visit after a gap of several years. A different time of the year but still spectacular. Check 'flowering seasons' to get the most from your visit but there is always something to see. The fountains look very good. Don't miss 'The Poison Garden' Facilities very good, nice restaurant, good tea/coffee.

Excellent place for a day out. Highlights are Treetops restaurant and the Poison garden. Unfortunately, we were too early to get the full benefit of the rose garden.

This place is wonderful. It is somewhat of a hidden treasure in the UK. We spent most of the day there as an excursion with a work coach trip and what a great day it was. The gardens in March were just coming into bloom and I would love to visit at another time of year. The fountains are super,... More

We visited in March, just before the garden was in bloom and before the Castle was open, however there was still a lot to see, with spring bulbs on show and the fountains, a tour around the Poison Garden which was very interesting and the Bamboo Maze. We spent a day here and I would imagine when it's in full bloom,... More

What an amazing garden - lots to see and do, they've thought of everything, so well planned. Spent all afternoon there and wish we'd had more time. An absolutely 100% fantastic place and a MUST go to when in the area.

The gardens are well worth a visit for lovers of gardens. There is also a good plant shop with other items for gardening enthusiasts. We visited on a Monday when it was relatively quiet. Although the cafe is in a great location looking out to the fountains with plenty of seating both covered and outside the food could be improved... More

Visited the gardens late in the day after spending time at the castle. The gardens are lovely but if I went again I would just pay entry for the castle only as there is a lot to see there. The entrance to the gardens is spectacular however with the water feature but other than that nothing special.

Created by the visionary Duchess of Northumberland, the always appeals no matter how many time it is visited. The Poison Garden can only be accessed with a guide. is a fascination collection of plants some which required Home Office approval and granted, other can be found in hedgerows, in the wild and in your garden, other aspect of the garden... The Gardens offer peace, relaxation and a bit of fun and education besides. The central cascade with its changing fountain programme keeps the focus interesting although I've yet to see if the four jets near the bottom of the upper section ever spray water over the pathway into the lower section - they are angled to do that but we're...
