The visit was a most unexpected find; the restoration works area great testament to the current owner, who has also had the great delight to fill the various rooms with all types of memorabilia! Among the historical artifacts, there are random collections of items from...More

Spent the weekend here for my birthday a few years ago. It's a really spooky atmospheric place. My husband (a Scottish man) still refers to how scary the ghost tour was in the woods where his countrymen were killed. The ghost tour is great fun...More

We visited Chillingham Castle in October after deciding to visit both the Castle and the Cattle on the same day, The Castle itself is well worth a visit if only to see the eclectic mix of mismatched items the owner has collected while on his...More

Supposedly a very haunted castle. Could do with a good tidy up and a good dusting! Lots of eclectic items dotted about and no particular theme. Give it a miss if your wanting to see something spectacular!!More

I am so sorry you feel our loved Castle needs dusting. Maybe ancient castles love a bit of dust? Chillingham Castle has a great history and Sir Humphry likes to demonstrate this in his vast collection of antiques and artefacts shown throughout. I know the...More

Fascinating time exploring the nooks and crannies of the castle . Full of lots of artefacts. Lots of personal touches from the owners own history. Nice to go to such a personal home .

I am so very sorry you felt the history of the Castle was not fully represented. The many Royal visits and fierce sieges are written up in the Castle Guidebook, but it is hard to read all that detail as you tour the Castle. Do...More

Booked a ghost tour for my partner's birthday at the end of August and we had almost 2 months to wait as I wanted it to be near Halloween. We were sent instructions, which included a recommendation to bring a torch - this was good...More

We really enjoyed our visit. Lots of clutter, but very interesting. The room guides were very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the castle and the Wakefield and Grey families. We had coffee and scones in the cafe and they were delicious. The...More

Arrived to find a castle that is a castle, not a national trust property that is ordered and pin neat. Top marks to sir Humphrey, on what he has done. Quirky and a very interesting place. well worth a visit.
