We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the live pantomime at the Abbey in December. It was Beauty and the Beast and such a treat to be able to do something with the children at Christmas after such a rubbish year. My granddaughter was mesmerised by Belle and her beautiful dresses and the children got into the spirit of things with lots of clapping and booing the baddie. Great fun and would definitely recommend panto at the Abbey. Next year's offering will be Dick Whittington and we'll be getting our tickets as soon as they're available. A lovely family afternoon (and drinks direct to our table - what's not to like?!).

Brilliant afternoon at the British GP! Great beer (Hooky and London Pride) and a friendly atmosphere and staff that you won’t get at your multiplex!

This was my first visit to the Abbey Cinema so didn't know what to expect but was pleased to find a cosy little venue. We went to see the showing of the Formula One Silverstone Grand Prix here 2/8/20. The staff are really helpful and relaxed. We had very comfortable armchairs with a table where we were served the food and drink we had pre-ordered. They have taken all the corona virus precautions you would hope. Overall a really good experience will definitely go again.

Since the Regal Cinema was demolished and turned into A Probation Hostel Abingdon has lacked a cinema. Shame cos all the great Movies showed there.Sound of Music Mary Poppins Where Eagles Dare Cabaret Zulu etc.in The early 1970s and 1960s. Abbey Cinema attempts to fill that void. Shoehorned into the 'old'Abbey Hall-A brutalist concrete structure that The Town Council have never really known what to do with since the heady days of Dance hire in the early 1970s . The Abbey Cinema appears to have some Continental European involvement. The youngish staff sound foreign and 'arty'. Theres an upstairs cafe with variable opening hours, but the main screen is really wierd or should I say avant garde. Theres a row of chicken in the basket type tables you sit at being served drinks whilst the screen is in front. Much distraction. They get ocassional movies for folks who it seems cant make the trip to Oxford. Its mainly somewhat out of date mainstream UK releases. I have found e mail communciation poor with the cinema. They stopped replying. Cinema is of course currently closed. The frontage of the cinema ie the pavement area is the haunt of teen juvelinile deliquent skateboarders, the seats are covered in pigeon poo from a large tree and the concrete stained and aged. Not really all that glamourous. A far cry from the vintage Regal! looks stained and inviting

Hi – thanks for your post - we make no apology for employing Europeans or young, artsy people. All our staff are brilliant and they work really hard to look after our customers. We are just trying to make an old unused building a happy space for everyone. Hope you find somewhere where you feel more comfortable. All the best, Abbey Cinema

Fabulous and unique little cinema - really makes going to the cinema a treat. Plenty of free parking closeby. There are really comfortable soft chairs set around small tables, which are ideal if you want to eat or drink - and they bring the food and drinks to your table! If you prefer more traditional seating, they have several rows of stepped seats, which again are extremely comfortable. The food is excellent and freshly made by their chef, so you can make a real evening of it. The staff are so helpful - really go above and beyond to give you a lovely evening out. Plenty of spotlessly clean toilets. The cinema has a 2nd screen in a very historic, medieval building - totally unique and again comfortable and great atmosphere - they even provide cushion and blankets so you can really snuggle down to enjoy the film.
