In mid November 2017 on a trip around the area we found the Clay Mills Victorian Pumping Station. There was no official tour but a chap called John ( hope that's right) was willing to show us round and what a brilliant tour it was...More

We visited for the first time 3 years ago and ended up buying a family memebrship. We go nearly every time they steam. Great piece of industrial architecture with some massive steam engines. My son loves doing the ratty trail

Dropped by here whilst visiting the area. If you’re into steam engines then this place is for you. The engines and the pumping equipment is so robust to say it was built many years ago. They have 4 main engines - one has not been...More

Perhaps the Plain Jane of our Victorian pumping station - after all sewage is less glamourous than clean water, but the whole visit was rivetting - no pun intended! We had a conducted tour all to ourselves, and although I normally prefer to wander round...More

This was one of my favourite attractions on our recent visit to Burton. The volunteers were all very friendly. We were shown a DVD of the Pumping house in operation, followed by a very detailed tour of the premises by a retired Colonel no less!...More

What a fabulous place to visit. Steeped in history and something for everyone. Children lived it. Will be going again soon

The volunteers are wonderful they chat away to and answer your questions, you get so close to everything and are able to be guided around or just go on your own. Bath house, steam room etc all awesome!

Fascinating place with three beam engines in steam on regular dates, see their website for which weekends, plus a range of static engines and 19th/early 20th century working workshops. Staff are all volunteers and really want to explain how everything works and how the pumping...More

Very helpful and willing volunteers showed me round and even started up the big engine for me, with the last of the day's steam. Great for dads with little kids who love seeing huge bits of metal whirling around.
