First visit to this Wetland centre, as we normally visit the Arundel one. The diversity of environment in Washington was much wider, and the experience was great. We saw a lot of different species (and we are no bird experts) above and beyond the normal fare of ducks and geese. It is set in a lovely spot, and was enjoyed... More

Working in the area and decided to see what was around. So glad I picked this place. Greeted by lovely friendly staff, after I paid a charming gentleman explained the layout and what I could expect to see. Unfortunately the flamingoes were in quarantine but the otter feeding was at 3pm. I had a very relaxing 3 hour walk with... More

This is a fantastic place to either just go for a walk or to go bird / wildlife spotting. There is always something to see either whilst walking or in the hides and things to do which would appeal to all ages. The paths are well kept and also quite accessible for wheelchairs / pushchairs.

Well laid out reserve. The highlight being the Herons nesting. Must have been around 30 birds. Definitely worth a visit.

We visited on a grey weekday in March when the wetland centre was very quiet, apart from a couple of school groups who were obviously very excitedly watching the birds and squirrels. There is a large free car park near the entrance, which is incongruously adjacent to an industrial estate. If it wasn't for the clearly marked brown tourist signs... More

Wear your wellies as it gets extremely muddy after a bit of rain. The restaurant is there to warm you up with a cuppa of a meal.Good hides to catch some good photographs. . Best time is after March when the largest motorbike meet in North East takes place every Wednesday and Sunday from 18:00hrs in the carpark .

Hi and thanks for your review. This spot is excellent for any visitors wether interested in birds or not. Welcomed at entrance by enthusiastic staff who, after taking your entrance payment, happily explained the site and what had recently been seen and where. Immediately sat down with a nice cup of coffee in the cafe and checked map to see which way to set off. Lots... More

We have been doing some work in one of our exhibits, which is where the muddy footpath will be - this is something that will be rectified this week. It has been difficult to get properly cleaned without the risk of freezing over. We're sorry... More

Best money we've ever spent getting a yearly pass here. We see something different every time we visit, which is regular. Great hide for photographing the birds. Cafe has a good selection of hot and cold snacks and meals. Highly recommended.
