We spent time in a two different parts of Yelapa, and loved it. This feels like the 'real' Mexico, connected to the past, yet dealing with rapid change. Nature is all around you with the bay being the main focal point.

It was a nice visit; the locals are very friendly. The waterfalls are simple, noting spectacular. We made the trip from the beach to the waterfalls in mules, kind of exciting. You pass trough town and get to see how people live in a small...More

We took a water taxi to the town of Yelapa and tagged along with others from the taxi up to the falls. The hike was pretty easy and lovely. There were locals selling souvenirs and drinks and a restroom by the falls.

The river was bone dry but great walking through the town and talk with the children. Pity the locals use the river as a dump. I suspect sewage was dumped there.

Wrong season to visit the waterfall, they have not had rain in seven months. Best to go either during the rainy season starting in June, or visit well before the end of may. I bet it is amazing when the water is flowing

After a nice walk through the winding paths of the beach/jungle town of Yelapa--you will end at a nice size waterfall you can cool off in! They even have a little cafe you can buy snacks and drinks.

Just back from holidays in Puerto Vallarta, great holiday !! We had done the Hidden Beaches trip which took us to Yelapa, a Fab beach that we were told only accessible by boat. Arrived at the location and first thing we done was horse riding...More

There are two. The one in town is higher & more picturesque, the one farther away isn't anywhere near as high but is equally spectacular in a different way and well worth the hour horseback ride or 90 minutes hike it takes... More
