One of the great mining museums of New South Wales. Come and see our award winning "Fire in the Mine" light and sound show, which tells the stories of working underground in the Lithgow region coalfields in the 20th century. There are many more interpretations of coal and oil shale mining. We also have facilities to host luncheons and wedding receptions.

Up at the back of Lithgow through some of the lovely town you get to this museum situated in the old State Coal mine. The $5 entry fee is very reasonable and the museum is interesting, informative and well worth a walk around. The old...More

Realise where energy used to come from (and 85% still does) - COAL! And see how it was mined around 1870 - 1960. It allowed for building our infrastructure. How would you start extracting coal if you were an early settler faced with the forest...More

Don't skip this place if you are in the area. Small nice museum about the coal mines history in the area. Kids can climb the machines and feel like they are real miners.

Very interesting place with so much mining memorabilia and all done by volunteers. Places like this should get funding..

The people running this hands on museum are valiantly attempting to preserve the areas industrial heritage and well done for doing so. However the site needs some financial assistance to ensure the items and buildings do not fall into disrepair. Worth a visit to view...More

This park obviously lacks funding and in all reality, it offers very little other than a collection of dilapidated and rusted equipment that is strewn all over the site. There are only two buildings remaining - the office complex and the "Bath House". On a...More

We were driving along taking in a scenic drive when we stumbled across this great piece of history. We had the pleasure of seeing (and hearing) the old diesel loco get fired up.
