Time to fill in and as we were nearby drove around the Coles Beach, the day has been a bit showery but the scenery is great. There were several surfers in today but unfortunately it started to chop up a bit too much so they left. Nice spot for a picnic and it appeared to be a good beach for... More

Very safe beach. Rock pools at low tide for the kids. Drift cafe on hand for meals or snacks. Pleasant walk to lighthouse with great views of Devonport.

A short walk down to the beach, the area offers a sandy beach and nearby rocky areas. Our children enjoyed splashing in the waves and wandering around looking for shells and watching crabs scrambling between rocks. Public toilets are nearby which is handy for a change area too.

Walking distance from our motel we visited Coles Beach to see about catching some waves, splashing in the water and working on our gorgeous tans. The beach is great, not a lot of tourists as they head to other ones nearby but this is the spot! Clean beach, well maintained, easy walk out into the water, we caught a few... More

Lovely little local sheltered beach. Low tide when we arrived, quite a few people walking dogs and racing books in the sunshine.

Somewhat picturesque but you wouldn't venture out of the car it was so wet and windy. Maybe would be better in summer.

Beach is safe for all the family, surfing when the swell is happening, toilets, picnic tables, bbq, sand and rock pools.

If you think the Mersey Bluff in Devonport is a little too 'commercial' and 'developed' for your tastes then move a kilometre or so west to Coles Beach where you'll find a lovely stretch of sand and a few rocks to climb around in an unspoiled setting. I have fond memories of it. It was a favourite during my early... More

Coles Beach was the first of a number of beaches we visited in Tasmania and it was very pleasant. Each beach has something unique about it and Coles Beach had a nice feel about it. You can also catch the railway museum train from a station near the beach which is an additional attraction.

Decided to go for a drive after dinner to see a little of Devonport as we are only here for one night. Accidently stumbled across Coles beach and fell in love with the serenity. It's a flat beach with very little waves, so if you are wanting to catch some waves, this beach is probably not for you. It is... More
