We visited the estate with friends from overseas. The gardens were beautiful. We enjoyed our walk through the rose garden and various outbuildings. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The site has a fascinating convict heritage which is well worth discovering. The views around the property are stunning!

Travelling in Tassie for business in Launceston I went for something a little different and stayed in the Coachman's Cottage at Woolmers. The property is amazing, having it to yourself in the late afternoon after the visitors are gone is fantastic. It's a bit of a drive into Launceston but the pub in Longford was great. The rooms are simple,... More

The walk from Brickendon took about 30 minutes and had informative signs along the way. Gardens and buildings at Woolmers were very beautiful. Scones, jam and cream were very good, and plunger coffee was excellent. They even had Gluten Free scones on request.

We spent the night before the tour there and had the place to ourselves. we had a great wander around the place and walked over to the family's adjoining estate across the river. A lovely evening. The next day we took the guided tour and were impressed by the knowledge and dedication of the tour guide. Interesting tour, interesting history... More

This is a must see destination. You can wander around the grounds for as long as you like, but try to aim to arrive for a guided tour of the inside of the house. It is well worth it to understand the history of the family and see all the interesting artifacts, and also see the original house. Don't miss... More

The roses in the massive rose garden were unfortunately past their best. We are told that the best time to view them is in November. We did the self-guided tour of the grounds and felt that things were looking a little tired and neglected. The two-storey wool shed was impressive and we loved the collections of vintage wares and tools... More

We stayed Woolmers Estate for 3 nights. This estate is well located and come with magnificent rose gardens with full of charms. We stayed at a small house with 3 bed room, 1 bath, and 1 toilet. Fully equipped with a laundry and a dryer. Although this place is a nice place to stay, we found a few draw backs.... More

Tassie is full of historic houses but this one is unique in having stayed in the family for so long and not being run by the National Trust. Don't be cheap and skip the guide. If you do you will miss all the most interesting interior parts of the house. Our guide was part of the Archer family and gave... More

Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Lots of history which is explained on the house tour. The cafe was excellent for lunch, and we did a walk around the house garden and the rose garden after. The rose garden was fantastic, we were just there at the right time in November.
