Russell falls seems to be the most popular attraction at Mt Fields Nat'l park but we would recommend continuing on the 6km circuit where you will see Russell falls, Horseshoe falls and Lady Barron falls plus go through the Tall trees which is awesome. The circuit has some short steep sections, steep and long flight of stairs at the end and takes about 2-2.5 hours to complete. All 3 waterfalls are beautiful and worth the effort to view them.

My review on Russell Falls includes this waterfall and it is worth it! We were the only ones at the waterfall, take the time to take in the sounds and the surroundings that this waterfall has to offer. It is amazing how the water falls from.both sides and come together, nature is surely amazing

When approaching Horseshoe Falls from Russell Falls there are about 200 steps in a short distance. We stopped for a breath a few times. The park brochure said “Easy” with a footnote about fitness level - is it easy or not? Anyhow....
Worth every step. Beautiful waterfall and the lead in to it is also beautiful with the meandering stream through the rain forest.
If you don’t like stairs, consider driving up the Lake Dobson Road and accessing the falls via the Tall Trees walk.

Sitting above Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls can be visited by a return walk from Russell Falls or as part of the Three Waterfalls Circuit. I would recommend the latter as it is a very pleasant walk that can also include the Tall Trees circuit.
Beautiful forest scenery and a pretty waterfall.

Despite an arduous two hundred and thirty-seven steps upward, the Horseshoe Falls, which actually sits just above Russell Falls, is arguably the more scenic of the two falls. It offers itself as a sight like the quiet and shy sibling who is in reality the more charming of the two.
Very photogenic, irrespective of the amount of water flowing.

These falls are above Russell Falls and it is a bit of a climb over many stairs to get up to them but if you take your time it is worth it. These falls certainly are not as spectacular as Russell Falls but nevertheless are quite picturesque. By going up this far it also gives you access to the tall trees walk.

Such a peaceful and tranquil spot with a very unique waterfall. A short walk past Russell Falls (an absolute must-see) it's not to be missed. We were on a tight schedule so only did a 45 minute return walk to see the two falls--in hindsight we would have devoted the whole morning to do one of the longer hikes.

Easy addition to the Russell Falls walk as long as you can handle some stairs. Wasn't a lot of water happening when we visited so I don't think we saw the best of it.
We visited as part of the longer Russell Falls/Horseshoe Falls/Lady Barron Falls/Tall Trees walk. You can do Russell Falls and Horseshoe together without a great deal of effort but if you do the whole circuit be prepared for a LOT of stairs.

From the same trail that leads to the Russell Falls the trail heads upwards with a lot of steps up to the viewing platform. It is very well constructed and doable by all however there are a lot of steps so take your time. The falls themselves are nice and probably more impressive after heavy rains.

Second Falls along Mt Field NP is Horseshoe Falls. Another beautiful falls well worth a visit. Beware there are many steps on the way to these falls so take it easy if you have knee problems. Great track though with even more steps to follow along the way.
