This was a lovely trip leaving from Strahan, even in the rain certainly got the true meaning of "Rainforest". Beautifully restored steam train and excellent service. Would certainly recommend this leisurely 4 hour train ride.

Glorious scenery and fabulous food - we had a brilliant day on this immaculately preserved steam train. Our host was fanastic and struck exactly the right balance between informing us, entertaining us and leaving us to marvel at the wilderness in peace. Very, very highly recommended.

We travelled to Queenstown specifically to ride on the train . Well worth the trip , the train was fantastic, service was excellent . One gets to see a lot of Tasmanian bush that would otherwise be inaccessible. Went afterwards to the workshops and we were shown around. My wife and I had a few days off and decided to visit Strahan again. We decided to go on the River and rain-forest rail journey that leaves from Strahan. We had a fabulous day on the West Coast Wilderness Railway. The train & carriages were immaculately restored. The service was fantastic . We went on the return rack and pinion journey from Queenstown to Dubbil Barril. The journey was fabulous with spectacular scenery and history. The staff on board were fantastic and the onboard commentary was excellent. The food was good and there was plenty of it. Would recommend it for families to do.

We took our 2 and 4 year old boys in the wilderness carriage. The food was delicious, the staff Tom and Kara were great hosts, who made us feel very welcome. A fantastic experience that I can't recommend enough!

We took the wilderness carriage and the service was outstanding. There was loads of tasty fresh food. The train wends its way through amazing scenery, the first station we did panning for gold. We went to Strahan specially to go on the railway and were not disappointed. Our four hour trip to Dubbil Barril and back was a delight. We were booked on the middle carriage but when we got to Queesnstown and checked out the train the day before our trip we noticed there were no windows the that opened, and the rear carriage has the balcony at the rear.
