This is a lovely spot to amble along the beach at the base of the cliff trying to spot fossils - I didn't have a lot of luck, but did find a few shells. It is accessed through a new housing subdivision, but there's a...More

We love the ocean and this was another spot to add to our list of beaches visited around Australia. We managed to find some great fossil rocks and the sea bird life in the area is fantastic. There is also a nice walk up to...More

We walked 5kms f rom our Caravan Park to Fossil Bluff, following the street signs. Once you get to the housing estate that is at the Bluff the signs stop and we were forced to ask a local for directions to the Bluff itself. Just...More

This is a short walk beside the river inlet, past a lot of lovely homes, to a great view. Very little traffic so it is a peaceful walk.

This was an interesting spot to explore. The tide was going out and it was easy to walk along the rocks to see all the different layers of fossils. Definitely worth checking out if in the area or doing the coastal drive.

Is just beautiful and well worth a visit. We stayed in Wynyard for over a week and took our dogs there regularly. There are little rock pools and the water is safe for swimming and it is so pretty.

This is a magical place but don't be fooled that it's all about the Bluff, rather than the rock formations, in and around, either side of the main beach. Magical photo shoots can be had from the loop walkway atop of the Bluff or from...More

Fossil Bluff is a must see for nature lovers. Be prepared to explore and don't forget the camera. The surf changes daily and mesmerising to watch. If you are lucky you may see a whale passing in the distance.

We really enjoyed Fossil Bluff. No 'real' fossils - more about layers of rock and sediments that have been laid down over hundreds of millions of years. It was a very windy day but I still spent about 90 minutes poking about looking at things...More
