This beautiful 189-acre facility is a special place for visitors to escape among trees, shrubs, specialty gardens, mature forests, and prairies. The arboretum hosts year-round educational programs that teach children and adults about sustainable horticulture, plant science, and conservation. Cox Arboretum MetroPark is also home to a native-Ohio Butterfly House.

Cox Arboretum is one of the best all-around metro-parks in the Dayton area. Scenic walking in either the tended gardens or in the woods. There are several features like the Butterfly exhibit or the lookout tower which makes the place really stand out. My husband...More

You can wander around for an entire after noon and not see the same thing twice. Well tended with clear trail definition. Plenty of stopping points to rest if you want. Large wooded trail area where you are sure you are alone.

Sometimes a little solitude is the order of the day. Very few places deliver on peace and quiet like Cox Arboretum. Indeed a beautiful place.

We visited the place at the end of the day. The park is relatively small, yet refreshing and nice. There were no butterflies in the butterfly house (maybe because of time). I can hardly remember my toddler so happy in a park. Wish there were...More
