Not crowded, even on a Saturday afternoon.
Aug. 2021
This was the last hike for us during our trip. It is a small distance from the other hikes in the area but still worth it. This trail was about 1.8 miles I believe and was a little more strenuous than others. Easy trail markers to follow and has the one-way trail system. Loved the carved staircases in to the rocks. Wear good shoes as it can be slippery in areas.

Beautiful!
Aug. 2021 • Family
My favorite hike of all the most popular hikes in Hocking Hills. It was a little longer than most the other hikes and seemed to be less crowded. The whole area is beautiful so you can’t go wrong with this hike.

So Worth the Extra Drive!
Aug. 2021
Cantwell Cliffs was a bit farther away than the other caves, but it is so worth the drive. (Seventeen minutes from our cabin by Old Man's Cave). The hike and terrain is a bit more rough at this park, but it was absolutely gorgeous. The steps carved out in the rock walls are so cool. Another Must See at Hocking Hills State Park!

The best hiking park in Hocking Hills!
Jul. 2021
We visited this park about 14 years ago and almost got lost. It was super confusing and no trail markers we could find. Today trails are very well marked with A to B to C markers and trail map with Letters on at each location. This park has so many elevation changes, interesting waterfalls, a "squeeze" to hike, that it's truly our most favorite park in the Hocking region. Skip a few others, but don't miss this park.

17 Miles From Old Mans Cave-But worth IT
Jun. 2021
This northern trail is 17 miles from Old Man's Cave on S.R. 374. Its remote location discourages visitation, but those who travel the short distance will be glad you did. It was our first stop traveling down to the area and was easy for us to find as others mentioned difficult. The steep cliffs, greenery, boulders and terrain were all so different that it looks like a different forest from one moment to the next. Breathtaking beautiful and peaceful and quiet. Except for the many birds of course. ( love the sounds). Recommend very good hiking boots as roots and stones can make it difficult for some. I tripped a few times but never fell. Watch your steps carefully. Recommend doing this trail first then Conkles Hollow which we called (Cankles as my ankles hurt later), Old Mans Cave, Whispering Cave, Rock House and last Cedar Falls. We would do this order again as difficulty and introduction to scenery. Hope this helps.

I like the fact the trails are one way to keep people from bumping into each other. This is one good thing that happened because of COVID. Hope it stays this way. We visited during the week and we felt we had the place to ourselves as not as crowded. We noticed the weekend really got crazy busy. Bring Water in a backpack and lunch or snacks to enjoy the moment.

Respect the trails and have fun admiring the beauty that southern Ohio has to offer.

Appetizer for regional cliffs
Jun. 2021
Walk this not too difficult path as an appetizer for the geological features in the region and enjoy the quieter, less visited woods.

Couldn't find it
May 2021
We wanted to hike all the trail areas in the park but never did find this one. The only sign we saw, we stopped at the parking lot but nothing was around. The state park needs to put up better signs to get to this place.

Very good hikes, but seemed...confusing
Nov. 2020 • Family
We, yet again, had a great time on this Hocking Hills hike. Maybe it was the one way signs, but we did seem to get turned around and couldn't seem to follow each path. We did one nice hike and found ourselves back at the parking lot before we wanted to, so we went down again and chose another route. We left after that, but I think there was at least one more. These paths are NOT for people who are unsteady on natural, uneven stairs.

The Earth Exposed

By descending down a narrow staircase, roots smooth from so many hikers, the wilderness opens to wow your senses. Trees, moss, waterfalls, rock formations, fungi and wildlife are all there for you to enjoy as you take a leisurely 1 1/2 mile hike.

Amazing place. Fairly difficult hiking, especially after rain previous night. Beautiful place.
Wet leaves on wet rocks made for slippery progress. Well worth it though!
