We were not expecting it to be soooo BIG. What a wonderful experience. The hike in is very easy and you can take the same way out if you want. We chose to go up the stairs and out the upper trail, a little harder but still very easy.

Ash Cave gets pretty busy but there is a lot of parking across the road and we had no issue finding a spot even on a fall Saturday. The first half of the hike (and the only part we did) is very flat, level, and easy walking. Once you get to the cave, the ground becomes a hard-packed sand. Even though there were a lot of other people there, we never felt overly crowded and still got great pictures. You can continue the loop and the second half becomes more rigorous.

First part of hike smooth and accessible for all. A bit more vigorous climbing out of the cave. Recommend this adventure.

It was a beautiful place to go for a hike. Vault toilets close to where you park. Small parking and no cell service but hey your out in the wilderness so who cares! The first part of the loop is very easy and simple. Handicap friendly for those that want to see the falls and not go through the sand and up to the cave area. You can turn around there and go back to your vehicle. If you want to keep going then, the second part of the loop, you have to go up some wet muddy steps and other steep steps to get to the upper portion of the loop. It is pretty and dog friendly. The falls are quite pretty. It is peaceful.

The first part of the hike to Ash Cave is accessible to anyone. The later part is just a nice hike. We were fortunate to go after some rain so there was more falling water than there would have been otherwise.

Short hike to Ash cave. It is so peaceful and beautiful. You can feel the energy with the water and the rocks.

The whole Hocking Hills area is so amazing, beautiful, and hidden treasure. The maps that were given were excellent and places easy to find.

This is one of my favorite views in the area. We only take the lower trail that takes you direct to the cave (not over the rim). The trail is paved up to the sandy area. There is a small water fall here and the view of the cave is just beautiful. You can walk back the way you came in or you can take the rim trial out. We walk back the way we went in.

To me, Ash Cave was the prettiest place we hiked to in the area. Going in August, there wasn't much of a waterfall. I'd love to see it in the spring. The down side to it being the prettiest location, it was the most crowded location. I would suggest you go early in the day, or maybe later in the evening. We went around noon. It's a pretty easy hike. If you only have time for a few of the hikes in the area, make sure this is one of them.

A short level walk to the cave (one way unless you have a disability). Not a typical cave i.e. hole in the ground. It's more of a gigantic overhang. It was absolutely beautiful. There are many stairs to climb on the 2nd half of the loop.
