Overview
More
Formerly known as Middlefield Cheese, Rothenbuhler Cheesemakers has been producing delicious Swiss cheese varieties of high quality since 1956, when Hans Rothenbuhler made its first 250 lb. wheel of cheese. Hans and his wife Ann worked as a team in creating Middlefield Cheese, with Ann running the retail store, known today as the Rothenbuhler Cheese Chalet. Today, the company is led by the couple's son, John, who leads with the same passion and commitment to quality as his father. The Cheese Chalet offers a wide selection of meats and cheeses cut to order, fresh sandwiches, bakery items, local and gourmet products, and of course samples of our Swiss! The store has become a destination not to be missed-come by for a taste to see for yourself why!

Having been a long time visitor to Switzerland, I was immediately impressed with Rothenbuhler's. The outside looks like an authentic Swiss chalet. Inside are several carved wood statues that are also authentic as well as an Amish buggy. It is interesting to note that Rothenbuhler...More

Learned about how cheese is made and how it has been made through the years. They have a small gift shop with good prices for cheese. They have complimentary coffee to drink while roaming the small museum and gift shop.

Hi Shirley, we do not offer tours to the public due to food safety requirements. We do offer viewings of our films that tell the story of Rothenbuhler Cheesemakers and show how we make Swiss cheese. Thank you!
