The wall tells a very interesting story about Portsmouth history. It also tells the story of the artist that painted it. It is a real must see! Words don't do it justice.

The murals of the Flood wall are amazing in their scope and artistic quality. Robert Dafford depicts the history of this southern Ohio river town from the ancient Adena and Hope well mound builders to current times. His murals chronicle education, industry, transportation, and local notables. These include Tecumseh , Henry Massie, Jim Thorpe, Carl Ackerman, Roy Rogers, Jesse Stuart,... More

It's a marble of Southern Ohio's art. It's great to walk with family and friends especially in the evening on spring or fall while it's not too hot or cold. I visited many times and still look new and interesting things that tell the history of many different events and human efforts!, congratulations Portsmouth!

Very interesting for history buffs. Great artistic work. Take your time to study each picture. Always try to at least drive by the wall when we are in the area. Sometimes you find things you looked over on previous visits.

The Portsmouth flood wall has been transformed into a chronological history of the area. Beginning on the East end of the wall with depictions of some of the prehistoric inhabitants and the works they left behind and progressing to the exploration of explorers and the to early villages. All aspects of the community are included and accurately portrayed.

Every year in January the Portsmouth flood walls committee holds a fund raising banquet with many baseball players in attendance. If you like the murals you'll enjoy the banquet and a chance to meet players like All Oliver/ Tom Browning/ Doug Flynn and Don Gullette . The tickets are reasonable and funds help with the murals on the flood wall.... More

The walls each feature part of towns history the artwork is very pleasing and gives a nice walking history tour on a end of summer fall day. If walking not your thing a slow Sunday drive by them also can appreciate. Make sure when done head to other side for lovely view of the river and bridges.
