tremendous condition- great service
Aug. 2017 • Friends
I played this course for the first time a month ago at a charity scramble. I was impressed by the design and by the presentation of all aspects of the facility and the people who work there. The entire event was terrifically organized and presented- topped off by a wonderful meal. Today I returned with a friend to play a regular round. Again the course is in great condition. I used every club in my bag. The shorter holes have their risk reward strategies. Some of the fairways are narrow enough to tempt you to bring out your 3 wood. We played in 4 hours, rarely waited to shoot and enjoyed every minute. We will return with some better strategies We had a laugh at one sign: To avoid the poison ivy, stay out of the woods. Lunch at the cafe serve excellent food with thoughtful touches like home cut fries. This operation has class and a commitment to customer service that shows throughout the experience. Top drawer.

Hello Bruce and thanks for the terrific review! It's not often people take the time for such thorough feedback. I've been very proud of course conditions this year and have always been proud of our ethic of customer service. I'm glad you've discovered us and we've been added to your play rotation - we'll work to stay in your 'top drawer'!

Nice condition but slow and punishing!
Jun. 2017 • Friends
This is a review based on my last visit:
Course condition was fantastic. I think the rain over the last few weeks have helped it a lot. However, I was very disappointed with the speed of play. On our last visit, we were stuck behind a very slow foursome who decided that they should never tee off unless the group ahead was on the green. As a result of this, there was a backup of four groups behind us. All this was happening without a marshal to direct "traffic".
Quick comment on the course itself. My group of golfers have always commented on how "unfair" this course can be. A great tee shot onto the fairway will be rewarded with an approach shot on a tough lie. Never easy for an average weekend golfer like myself. I believe the Uplands course is the easiest of the 3 nines so if you want a better score, play that!
Nevertheless, the four of us have been golfing here for 15+ years with many wonderful memories.
Unfortunately, I think there are other courses that we can play for $70+ and have a better experience with the course and speed of play.
Thanks for the many memorable rounds Pheasant Run, but I think last week's is my last there.

Hello Aavron, Thanks for taking the time to post on TripAdvisor and thanks for being such a long-time supporter of Pheasant Run - 15 years is a long history with us! I'm sorry your last round was a disappointing experience and that you find the layout here unfair. There are places on many fairways here that don't afford a flat lie and several that present difficult approaches. We're constantly working on improving playability, particularly where tree branches overhang fairways. The great thing about being in the Toronto golf community, is that there are many first rate facilities to choose from - you're sure to find several that have what you're looking for. Best regards - Craig Evans

Always a good challenge

Love this course. The 3 separate nines allow for a changing combination. Each nine is just challenging enough that you have to carefully consider your shots. The scenery is also superb

Thanksgiving Dinner/Celebration of Life
Oct. 2016 • Family
I would like to thank Lynne and the staff at Pheasant Run for providing such a beautiful venue for our family Thanksgiving/Celebration of Life dinner this past weekend. It started with mixed greens, butternut squash soup, turkey dinner with all the trimmings and ended with apple crumble and ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. It was delicious! The panabode style dining room and patio outside gave our event a nestled, cozy and private feeling. The staff were gracious and attentive. We had excellent service. There was a side nook to the room and they provided easels for our photo boards. They also provided courtesy rides in an extended golf cart from the parking lot to the dining room area for anyone that wished to take a ride. This was extremely helpful and appreciated as some family members needed assistance. We all enjoyed this special time together, it was perfect! I am so happy I came across their website during my search.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough review. What makes this such a great place to work everyday- besides the beautiful environment- is the opportunity to create special moments for families such as yours. I'm very proud of the way Lynne and her staff affect all of our guests and will make sure they are aware of your generous comments.

Pheasant Run never disappoints!
Sep. 2016
Pheasant Run is one of my favourite golf courses in Ontario. The course has 27 holes with each 9 offering picturesque and challenging holes. The course is in excellent shape which, given the heat and lack of rain we've had this summer, is a testament to the skill of the groundskeeping crew. The Pheasant Run staff are friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to ensure you have a great golfing experience. The rates are very reasonable and you get great value for your green fee. The restaurant is also lovely and the food is excellent!

What a great review, Bkgard! Thanks- wish you could write all our endorsements! I'm very proud of what we have on offer here, but I always get a thrill when a player takes special notice of it. Thanks for making my day!

Good course, maintenance is heading downhill
Aug. 2016 • Solo
I have golfed here consistently over the past 2 years. You will very rarely see a beverage cart. I have witnessed no grounds improvements in that time. There are machines littering the course, big swaths of un-sodded ground/dirt, ropes guiding you off paths but seemingly no improvements. The sand traps are almost unplayable because of lack of attention. The staff has been replaced over time with mostly students who don't seem to enjoy their jobs. The older staff is enjoyable and attentive. The course itself is not the greatest design but is cut into a very beautiful area and so boasts some of the nicest views of any course in the area. This course could be very nice but seems to have suffering from neglect. Pricing seems high given the quality of service.

Hey Steve! Thanks for the review and thanks for being such a consistent customer over the past few years. We often hear about our fantastic setting and never tire of the views either- it's such a blessing to come into this work environment every day! Steve, regarding our pricing, you might consider our 'Red Hat Club' - join for $199, then never pay more than $39.50 for golf. It's got to be the best value for golf anywhere in the GTA.

Fabulous course. Craig Evans (President) has a very 'can do' and 'how can we delight the guest' approach.

Thanks for the review, Arshil. Pheasant Run is a great walking course- no long traverses to get to the next hole- each leads to the next without interruption. There are some significant elevation changes though. You'll know you've had a workout, but how else can you get up to those great views? My habit is to walk for the first nine, then take a cart for the back to give my legs a break!

Tight dog legs, uphill, small greens
Sep. 2015
This is a well maintained course up north of Toronto that is never going to have the fine detail or challenge of a major course. If you are looking for a friendly club with plenty of shorter holes that require accuracy because of the setup , then you will enjoy this course that is filled with natural views.

Thanks for your comments, David. You're absolutely right about our club- we will never be a course like The National in Woodbridge, or The Magna Club in Aurora. We're a place for a friendly, enjoyable game in a beautiful surrounding - to paraphrase our mission - an experience of 'excitement, warmth, and fun!'

Amazing golf, no cart serice during play!
Aug. 2015 • Friends
The course is amazing, I loved the golf portion. By the time I got to the 10th hole, I still had not seen anyone selling food or drink. I actually had to call the pro shop from my cell phone. A gentleman named Mike answered, when I asked if there was a cart going around he informed me that food and beverage was not sending anyone around that day. It was a very busy Sunday, 30 degrees outside! I couldn't believe it, was very disappointed. Luckily, Mike acted swiftly. He offered to drive out personally and deliver a few drinks and sandwiches. Needless to say, for the amount of money I paid to golf here the least I expected was a golf cart driving around selling over priced drinks and snacks. Mike saved our round, not joking! I will play again but next time will bring some water and snacks just in case. Thanks again Mike, hope you are recognized for your above and beyond service!

Hello Charlene, Thanks for taking the time to review our club. You are absolutely right to expect a beverage cart on the course, whether it's hot out or not! The person scheduled for Sunday didn't make it in with no notice and we couldn't fill the shift. If this happens, we try to tell all players when they arrive that no cart will be on the course, but we will respond to any requests for service that are called in. I'm sorry that you had to reach a point of stress before we could look after you, but am confident that on your next visit you will receive the level of service that should be expected. I will be sure to recognize Mike's response in that situation!
