Very nice camping area

Lovely location with nice size sites--we just have to look for a level one that is long enough. State parks in Ohio were built before these were requirements. Two areas with lots... read more

Lovely location with nice size sites--we just have to look for a level one that is long enough. State parks in Ohio were built before these were requirements. Two areas with lots of trees and another flatter area that get more sunshine. Beautiful in the fall with the turning leaves. Nice hiking trails. Nice lake nearby. No sewer hookup. Nice... More

We brought my 13 month old son for a picnic lunch with my inlaws and decided since it was a beautiful day to let him put his feet in the water. It was beautiful and my son and husband enjoyed wading in the lake and getting their feet in the sand.

Attempted to swim there and decided not to, because of smells coming from the water. It is filthy and toxic, in my opinion!

We camped in "class B" which is tent only camping. Our spot was okay but the sites are right on top of each other. We had to drive to use the shower house or fill up our water containers (way too far to walk). There are only a couple trees providing minimal shade on lots B10-18. Our site B9 had... More

We enjoyed our 3-day stay here! We are not "water people", so I can't comment on that other than to say the beach looked ok. The pad we had was nice, long enough but I wold have preferred it to be at least several feet wider as the trailer step came down mere inches from the significant drop off from... More

This was our first stay ever at a state park and we very much enjoyed it. The cottage was newly refurbished with new paint, flooring, kitchen appliances, countertops. The a/c was heavenly! One bedroom had a Q bed and the other had a full/twin combo. The TV was new. The screened porch was a nice respite from the throngs of... More

In the seventies, every-weekend we'd camp here. Lots of trees great commissary, nature program, clean beach. But with emerald ash disease trees are for the most part gone. State cut-backs have made an impact on this park. Cabins have remain unchanged since the seventies as well as the bathrooms. Never has there been a nice water pressure. We camp here now on... More

Cowan Lake is a wonderful place to commune in nature. Most weekends there are several free opportunities, (canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boards, archery, and many exciting explorations in the Naturalist Cabin). The naturalist at the State Park organizes all of these spectacular events. Some of the cabins have been totally remodelled, but they are all nice. The lake is... More

We just bought our first pop up camper and took our boys camping who are 4 and 7. We definitely enjoyed ourself at this campground. Lots of trails to hike with beautiful scenery, also the lake is very nice as well. We rented a John boat for couple hours and went out on the lake. Other campers here seemed friendly,... More
