A National Treasure in downtown Oklahoma City. The American Banjo Museum contains over 300 banjos on display and is the only museum of its type dedicated to preserving and promoting the music and heritage of America's native musical instrument - the banjo. An interpretive exhibit tells the evolution of the banjo from its humble roots in American slavery, to bluegrass, to folk and world music.

Everything about banjos from very elaborate ones to very simplistic ones. Staff encourages you to try them out, so you get to "pick and grin" like Roy Clark. Wonderful time.

Who knew there was such a gamut of banjo design and decoration! This museum is fascinating, even for the non- musician. There is a history of the banjo also to educate those of us who know very little about the instrument. Highly recommend!
