The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center offers living history demonstrations, interpretive programs, exhibits, multi-media presentations, special events, and more than four miles of interpretive trails. We offer a variety of interpretive programs and special exhibits year-round. One mile of well-preserved ruts lie on the Interpretive Center grounds, and are accessible by the trails or from a turnout on Highway 86 about a half-mile west of the Center's entrance.

They have done a stupendous job of telling the story of traveling the Oregan Trail. Even had a local person desplaying flint and obsidian knapping as well as a display of furs from local native animals. Good for children and adults alike.

You are immersed in the Trail. Eastern Oregon still bears the marks of the emigrants. The Center's displays are realistic (if a bit dusty, as these diorama's can be). There is comprehensive written and filmed information, with quotes from emigrants - particularly women - hanging...More

Good displays, but leaves out most of pre American history, such as the Spanish, Russian and British fight over Oregon's resources.

This interpretive center is very informative and well worth a stop to check out. You learn about what people went through while travelling the Oregon Trail. Everything is well done and everyone is helpful. You can even check out original wagon wheel ruts on site.

A must see. My family came across on Oregon Trail in 1843. It still amazes me. Make sure to see a docent presentation. Very well done.
