Small, shallow clear lake. We see Bald Eagles circling every time we go. They must have a nest nearby. You have to climb 1500ft from Bend and then down a gravel road and sparse parking so go early. South end of the lake has a...More

This is my favorite lake to kayak or paddle board on. The lake is large, so even though there tends to be a lot of people, once you are on the water, you can find your own litle nook to hang out in and eat...More

Hosmer is one of the most beautiful excursions that our family takes with our canoe, fish site seeing, paddling on the crystal clear waters through the reeds all the way up to the stream that feeds the lake and little waterfalls. Camping is decent around...More

Hosmer Lake is very popular with the kayak loving folks. It is quiet and serene and beautiful and well worth spending some time there. The best part is you don't have to drive for miles and miles to get there.

Spent a sunny afternoon kayaking on this lake. The views of the mountains, the clear water--nature is good. It can get quite crowded during the summer months. Took the narrow path up to the small waterfall and bridge and was able to pull off to...More

This was a great outing for our group. It was a nice drive, but it was the destination that made it worthwhile. Photo opportunities in all directions and a great trail that walks along the lake and past giant boulders and through the trees. Next...More

A shallow and interesting lake to paddle by kayak, canoe or SUP. A large marshy area to pass near often has many red wing and yellow wing blackbirds. Trout can be easily seen in the shallow water. One large open area, and the whole lake,...More

Do you know if you can camp outside of the campgrounds? Say, along the water?

there is one primo spot that is not in the campground, which is right on the water. Accessible only by boat, and probably pretty hard to get, because there's always someone there when I paddle by. Head north towards... More
We're from out of town and we'd like to kayak Hosmer Lake. Is there someplace other than Bend where we can rent kayaks? Can we rent from Elk Lake and bring to Hosmer?

The last reviewer is correct, your best bet is Bend. There are plenty of places to rent, but it's also not that far from Hosmer to Bend. I was just at the Elk Lake Lodge, and I definitely had the impression that the kayaks... More
