This rock formation is an icon of the Oregon Coast, a great beach walk destination, and a lovely backdrop (or focal point) for pictures. Oregon beaches are public, so just find a beach access point and walk up or down the beach towards Haystack Rock.

We enjoyed our brief visit to Haystack. The volunteers were out and helpful for explaining the environment.

You can walk for miles! When the tide goes out you can walk right up to the Rock! Great for sunset pictures!

This space and surrounding views at low tide give a sense of the evolving development of how our globe has been made. The geologic plate movement is more evident along with the dramatic views of the shape of the edge of the sea shore. Also at low tide (mind the cautions) sea life can be seen in the tidal pools.... Loved gazing at Haystack Rock from the balcony of our hotel room. great to walk out at low tide to explore the tide pools. There is never a lack of things to watch from birds to starfish. A beautiful place.

Such a lovely beach with incredible views. Of course, if you are a Goonies fan this is a must stop. There are many hotels that offer direct access. We stayed at the Surfsand Resort and could not recommend it enough. Absolutely wonderful!

Haystack Rock is a long time landmark of Cannon Beach, Oregon. You can view this from beach by walk down from the many beach accesses along Cannon Beach or view from the "sea wall" or from Tolovana Park parking lot.

We grew up in Beaverton and this was the place to come back in the day. A lot of newer, bigger homes around but the view is still one of the best on the coast. Plenty of historical buildings too if you like a little of that. Ecola State Park, Hug Point and Acadia Beach.

If you visit the Oregon Coast then Haystack Rock is a must see. This place is beautiful! Not only is Haystack Rock incredible, but the town of Cannon Beach is also very nice.

If you're in Cannon Beach for shopping or lunch, take a walk down the beach to Haystack Rock and get a few pictures of this magnificent protrusion. It's quite large and you can see it from a distance, so you don't have to be next to it for a picture. If the tide is low enough, you can walk out... More
