We walked the short trail with our adult kids and 2 & 4 yr old grandkids. It was a gorgeous trail and the views once we reached the beach were spectacular. My husband & I felt so blessed to enjoy this trip, The Oregon Coast...More

Between multiple hikes, a wonderful short walk through some woods to the beach and spectacular views just south there is not much else you could ask for in a state park! The only downside is some overcrowding EVERY WEEKEND between June and early October. I...More

Great parking, a beautiful and varied walk, and a lovely beach. Watch the tide tables! We arrived early enough to see it all, but because it is a "short" beach, by the time we made our second loop, the tide had cut our route very...More

A little challenging because of the muddy, wet terrain (resulting in some slipping and sliding) but nice viewpoints along the way and especially at the turnaround point.

This is such a change from the beaches in CA. You park in what seems the middle of a forest along the highway and then walk (not difficult, but not real handicap friendly) through an ancient forest. Lots of huge trees and a stream, very...More

What a gorgeous beach. Starting with the hike down the trail, along the creek, and through the forest. Eventually, opening up to a gorgeous cove. Nice, wide beach. Cold water, as always. Everyone is super cool. One of my faves. Don't miss the waterfall at...More

The best part of Oswald West State Park isn't visible without a commitment to a hike. For a beautiful and moderately easy short hike through heavy forest vegetation, take the Cape Falcon Trail down to Short Sands Beach (highly recommended). Or you can take the...More

We headed down the trail toward the beach but then took the old growth trail to the creek. Wonderful walk through old growth forest. The beach was great too. Ended up making a loop. Don’t miss this easy hike. Got some gorgeous pictures. Even better...More

In dry conditions a good athletic shoe should be fine; if wet, I would recommend hiking boots. Also dress in layers as temps vary along the trails and be sure to bring drinking water for each hiker.

Yes, there is a wide asphalt gradual pathway that goes to the beach. You access this trail from the parking lot on the east side of 101
