It's an odd structure, a stone octagon in "German art nouveau" style.

    Worth the stop
Road side stop with a view to sue for. We worth the stop on scenic route 30. If you are head to see the Multinoma Falls it is worth making this a stop as well. Great vast views and a a perfect place to get views

    Overlook
I visited this place on my way back to Portland, as the final stop of my trip to River Gorge. Unlike my expectation, the weather was foggy when I got here. However, the glimpse of overlook was fantastic. Ample parking spaces.

A great piece of US architectural and transport history
A very interesting piece of architecture and history - the drive along the historic highway 30 is beautiful so go slow and savour each curve and vista point. Be sure to understand the history of Vista House before visiting and note the incredible details of the structure including the roof, rails and stairways. Building such a structure there in 1930 would have taken much planning and engineering. In particular note the gentle curve of the guardrails - the builders were very pleased with those. The interior has limited opening hours so check the website.

    Great views of the river
The desk clerk at our hotel in Portland suggested Vista House when we mentioned we were headed to Multnomah Falls. It isn’t much to look at as far as a gift shop or anything, but it is a really cool building and the views of the Columbia River are great. Just beware, parking can fill up the later in the day it gets.

Stunning Views by This Iconic Columbia River Landmark
While Vista House could use some attention, it does provide a stunning place to view the Columbia River Gorge. The Vista House is staffed with volunteers that can provide helpful information about the area. It has a coffee shop and a ift shop. There are historical photos lining the walls though you can see water damage and the need for repairs. It is a beautifully designed building that Roadside America calls the Statue of Liberty of the West though it is more of a metaphor as greeting place from west like the SOL greets visitors in the east. Some would say it is mainly an expensive rest stop along the Columbia River highway. It does have accessible rest rooms, but it is the views that will keep you coming back.

Well, the title says all. Better do my job here than in a portable john found in most rest places and state parks. However, refrained from ordering an expresso in the same basement.

Beautiful structure and views! I wish we had come a little earlier in the day; it was right at 5 p.m. so they were closing the building. I would have enjoyed getting a coffee and exploring more.

An amazing looking building with great views of the Columbia River. It is a little off the beaten path and the building itself is only open on weekends. But you are able to walk around it and enjoy the views at any time.

This was a surprisingly favorite stop on our trip through the Columbia River Gorge. The views are breathtaking. The building is beautiful. There’s a nice gift shop, restrooms, and even a coffee shop in the basement. There is a single person elevator to use if you need it, but you have to ask for assistance from the staff.

First time here. WOW! What a view of the valley and river. Lots of parking, and the staff here is very friendly and helpful. They do have snacks, and drinks on the lower level.
