Real Oregonians camp. The rest of us can day-hike “The Gorge,” that’s the Columbia River Gorge, one of the scenic crown jewels of the Pacific Northwest. Barely a 30 minute drive on I-84 from Portland begins a breathtaking stretch of over 50 waterfalls. Taking Exit 28 on to the Columbia River Highway brings you to one of the first and... More

And the first to freeze in cold weather, so beautiful. Parking lot across the road and from Portland you get here before Multnomah Falls. The parking lot over looks the forest and then the Columbia.

Latourell Falls was a simple and quick drive once we left the more famous Multnomah Falls as we drove on the Historic Columbia River Highway heading West. It was a beautifal site to behold with a small parking lot adjacent to it for visitors to safely park and walk to see this waterfall.

On the drive along the scenic byway you'll find several waterfalls along the way. Latourell is quite beautiful and is only short walk from the parking lot.

Enjoy a stop here on your journey along the Columbia River Gorge Old Scenic Highway. Parking can be tough if you go in the height of the season, so maybe try weekdays.

You only have to hike 250 feet from the parking area to be able to enjoy this wonderful waterfall. It is located along old Highway 30, very close to where you turn off to get to the amazing Vista House and Crown Point Scenic Corridor.

The falls are narrow, but very easy to get to. They are the first ones you will pass after Vista House.

We took the short path to the bottom of the waterfall. It was nice to be so close to it. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. I would come back to spend more time exploring the trails.

Never been this close to a waterfall, I still laugh at how amazed I was. Great experience for my kids and it's not a difficult walk. Must see! You can take some awesome pictures here.
