I loved the variety and beauty of the covered bridges with the backdrops of May's lush green vegetation. I would highly recommend contacting the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce before your trip or while you are there to get their free brochure on the self-guided bridge tour. It includes a map, turn-by-turn directions, and a bit of history on each bridge.

We absolutely enjoyed seeing all of these covered bridges! We would love to return in the fall when the leaves have changed. The Chambers covered train bridge was unique. We wish we had been able to do some night photography on the bridges, as well.

I began my tour by going to the visitor center in Cottage Grove, a small town in West Central Oregon just south of Eugene. The people in the visitor center were lovely, friendly, and very helpful. While there I picked up a tour brochure of their local covered bridges. There are six within a 10 mile radius of Cottage Grove, and I visited all of those plus a seventh that was just a little further out, on the opposite side of Dorena Lake. The bridges are all in good shape, and while some you could drive over, all you could walk over, and it made a very nice relaxing day to be outdoors. If you like covered bridges, and history, I highly recommend doing this. The brochure to guide you to the various Bridges is very well done, and easy to follow.

we live about 45 minutes from cottage grove, so we spent a lovely saturday afternoon getting to cottage grove and driving to the bridges in a leisurely way. let me just say it isnt spectacular- especially to us locals who live in such a truly beautiful place! its not a destination in itself if you are from out of town. but if you enjoy scenic drives, country roads, and just checking out something new, this is a really nice option!
of the 3 websites we viewed for info on bridges, they all had very wonky and incomplete directions! thankfully, between the scenic attraction roadsigns and our gps (which only worked part of the time...) we found all 6 plus the 'swinging' bridge. MY ADVICE: map the route at home first!
we were able to drive across 2 (one of which was still undergoing a facelift) and walk across the rest. great photo ops. too early on oct 3 to see much fall foliage. might have to go again in a couple of weeks!
MORE ADVICE: use the potty beforehand... facilities are scarce. there are outhouses at the dorena bridge (the farthest one out) but they were incredibly disgusting!!

The map of the covered bridge tour (self guided) made this an easy jaunt. We drove, took pictures and wandered a bit. There are 8 bridges. There are places to pull of the road safely to walk the bridges and take photos. The Swinging Bridge was really fun!

The covered bridges of Cottage Grove, Oregon, were a bonus to our 2 night say. We planned a vineyard hopping weekend, and then saw a brochure at our hotel about the covered bridges. Since most of the wineries don't open for tasting until noon, we decided to check out the bridges. The only one you can drive through is the Mosby Creek bridge, which as of September 23 is still being repaired and is unpassable. My favorite was the Currin Bridge built in 1925. The covered railroad bridge was interesting too.

This tour is a beautiful drive (or you can ride your bike). The bridges are all gorgeous and well maintained. The history of each one is posted and very interesting.

We discovered the covered bridges of Cottage Grove initially from the AAA Guidebook. We then stopped in at the Oregon Information Center in Eugene. Ultimately we back-tracked to Cottage Grove and toured 7 bridges. In addition to covered bridges, one was a swing bridge. Most were not in use anymore and a couple were being restore. If you love covered bridges or engineering this stop is not to be missed.

This was a fabulous 1 to 2 hour scenic tour of 6 historic covered bridges in Cottage Grove, OR. All of the bridges appear to have been recently renovated with the exception of the Mosby Creek Bridge which is currently under repair. The Mosby bridge is on Lang Road a few hundred yards north of Mosby Creek Road and Lang Road is fully closed to all traffic at the bridge until Sept 15th, 2014. There are scenic tour signs all along the route which will get you to all of the covered bridges. The Chambers Railroad bridge was the most impressive and the only one with in-depth history signs all about the era of these covered bridges. This is a definite must see if you stay near Cottage Grove and check out this website for a good interactive tour map: http://traveloregon.com/trip-ideas/scenic-byways/cottage-grove-covered-bridge-tour-route/

We didn't even know about these covered bridges when we booked a hotel in Cottage Grove and we were thrilled about them. We even looked for all six plus a swinging foot bridge. We love the town too. The whole place is just adorable. You have to go and visit!

Hi, Barbara. What would you like to know about this attraction? Is there a map on the Internet of covered bridges in the nearby area?
Written September 25, 2018
Hi Barbara.
This is the instructions we followed:
eugenecascadescoast [period] org [forward slash] bridges [forward slash]cottage-grove [forward slash]
Sorry trip advisor does not allow HTML or website links. Put the punctuation where indicated. Hopefully this will pass.
I had to look around for these bridges, several times going around the block because I missed it. It was a lot easier when someone else does the driving and I was the navigator.
Go in the order of the list. It starts from the middle of downtown and goes outward.
I've never been able to find a map like the atlas type map. Cottage Grove is a very small town.
Good luck.

Can you provide map to all the covered bridges?
Written August 12, 2018
IN Google type: Covered bridge tour -cottage grove- there is a PDF of the map. TRipAdvisor will not just let me copy it here.

We plan to visit the area in July. I was wondering if there is a paper map with directions and locations of bridges, just in case GPS fails us. Are there locations which may have some on hand, and where? Thanks! Covered bridge fanatic.

Look at my earlier note. I put the web site. However, I believe that is only for the covered bridges in Cottage Grove. If you want to know where all the covered bridges are in that area, I don't think it is available on the internet. If you go to Cottage Grove, there is a book store that sells book with all the bridges maybe 20 or 25 pages.
