Applegate Lake is really beautiful. It's great for paddle-boarding, kayaking, and canoeing. The surrounding forest is gorgeous. I would not recommend eating any fish you might catch from it; however, as I understand the mercury levels are high.

Great place for swimming, boating, picnics, camping in summer. In winter I run the trails here with my dog. There is poison oak though so beware. Bring Technu.
