About
REX HILL has been making elegant Pinot Noirs for over 40 years in the Willamette Valley at the gateway to Oregon's wine country. REX HILL honors exceptional single vineyards and continues a legacy of singular Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays & Sparkling Wines that reflect their origin. That sense of place is paramount to the way we farm our land and make our wines. We are open 7 days per week and recommend reservations but happily take walk-ins when we can. A group of 6 of us visited Rex Hill as part of a wine tour. Suddenly without warning we were told that our bottles of wine were going to be corked and we were asked to leave. When we asked what the reason was for this, we were told they could not provide us with a reason. All of us were in shock at being asked to leave so suddenly without reason. The whole situation was handled poorly and we are quite disappointed as it was the stop many in our group were looking forward to the most. We will definitely not be returning to Rex Hill and sticking to locations that are more professional.

Great views and an easy location to get to for most everybody. We were able to taste only red wines which was great. The pinot noirs were really good. Witness Tree was the best pinot we tasted. We were able to taste a cab also. Doug was our server and he was quite knowledgeable.

My group of six ladies went to Rex Hill as the final stop of a three winery tour. We opted to buy a couple of bottles of wine to share rather than do a traditional tasting, and that was apparently not a problem; however, shortly after ordering we suddenly and without explanation were told to “cork our bottles” and leave. We asked why, but the manager refused to give us a reason. We were stunned and humiliated. I am 72 years old and have never been treated like this in a public place in my life. This horrible experience ruined an otherwise wonderful wine-tasting day with friends.

A beautiful winery with little hospitality.
We did have reservations but the attitude at this winery was not welcoming. The wine was poured in the least scenic portion of the winery —the tunnel, and unlike the previous two Willamette wineries we visited, we came away not knowing much about this one.

My boyfriend and I visited Rex Hill as the first stop on a day of wine tasting in the beautiful Willamette Valley during a trip to Portland. We visited early on a Monday afternoon, so we were the only guests when we first arrived. While it was a cooler, somewhat dreary spring day, our experience was absolutely fantastic. The wines were lovely, but the truly exceptional service is what made us huge fans of Rex Hill. Leanne took the time to personally educate us on the vineyard, wines and tasting experience. She spent at least an hour with us and was simply fabulous. While we both enjoy wine, we live in the Midwest and are newbies to the winery experience. Quite frankly, at first my boyfriend was thinking he was joining me for this day of wine tasting, because he knew I would really love it. However, I will forever be grateful to Leanne, because she made this experience easy going and fully engaged my boyfriend. He loved it! Thank you so much Leanne! We can't wait to keep our eyes out for Rex Hill in our local wine shops and build on our fond memory of this special afternoon.

I live in Indiana and discovered this Pinot Noir more than 10 years ago. I’ve been waiting to visit this winery a long time. It did not disappoint. Beautiful grounds and views, great tasting room. If you buy a case you can sample many reserve wines. Spectacular.

Visited here as the first stop on our tastings. Friendly and welcoming staff with extensive knowledge of their beautiful wines. Had to purchase Rose that was recently released. They have small bites and picnic space to enjoy a glass or bottle of wine.

I had been to the Portland area many, many times but always on business and had never had the opportunity to visit any of the wineries. On this August trip I made it to several, Rex Hill being the first and best, frankly.

The gentleman who ‘served’ us a gracious and entertaining to all of the folks that came to the tasting counter. Although I don’t typically fall to the ‘it’s good I have to buy some’ vibe that can plague all of us at such tastings (I’d need another plane ticket!), it did pick up two great bottles from Rex Hill: the 2015 Chehalem Mountains Pinot and 2015 Willamette Valley Pinot.

I would recommend adding Rex to your list when visiting PDX area vineyards.

A larger winery and vineyard, we found the wines to be okay but the service was seriously lacking. We had just arrived at Rex Hill after visiting Blakeslee Vineyards. The personal, indulgent attention we received at Blakeslee might have elevated our expectations for Rex Hill where we felt like we were treated as an imposition by the server who was far more interested in reconciling his credit card receipts than in engaging with us. In fairness, we were insanely jealous of a bridal party who had another server who was engaging, informative, and entertaining. But, alas, he was not our server. So for OUR experience, the Rex Hill Winery was a dud and we won't go back when there are so many other options in the area.

Rex Hill was one of the first premier wineries in our area. The location is breathtaking, the wine consistent, and the people are charming. Best thing to do while wine tasting is to buy cases of a new or old favorite.
