We spent about an hour here and enjoyed looking at the paintings. We came away with two paintings we really like. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

There is always an interesting show going on at the Center, thought there doesn't ever seem to be a sign advertising what is going on inside. The bottom entrance leads you into a display room on the right (no charge) and there is an upstairs, leading to another gallery. The stairs are easy to find, however, it is not always clear where the show then is. I never see any signs upstairs leading to the room at the end of the hall to the left. There are interesting display cases upstairs and take a look in the meeting room on the upstairs right to see the magnificent view. Not sure how you can concentrate during a meeting when that view is presented.

Cute little shop with the one of the friendliest shopkeeper. She was so informative and just all around nice! Some of the pieces were quite amateurish, but there priced as so. Some were outstanding. Would love to see more non-painting items. More glassware, etc. Love them!

The VAC showcases local art and provides classes in various arts. The classes are a good community service, especially for teens. The quality of the local shows varies considerably. Shows tend to be chosen for current trends. Openings are a bit haphazard and the talking heads can be boring.

My granddaughters were impressed with the unusual art they saw here. Very enjoyable!! It was easily accessible just a short walk from where we were staying.

Art by many talented local artists is exhibited 12 times a year at the Runyon Gallery located on the 1st floor in the historic Nye Beach Turnaround area of Newport, Oregon. This recent visit was to view the Mayors' Show in the Runyon Gallery running until January 29, 2017, and including 8 Lincoln County artists selected by Mayor Newport Mayor Sandra Roumagoux, Toledo Mayor Billie Jo Smith and OCCA VAC Director Tom Webb, from among the 124 artists who contributed work to the 2016 “PushPin Show,” on display at the VAC during December 2016. Wonderful exhibition in a variety of mediums including acrylic and watercolor paintings, fibre arts, black and white photography, mixed media and sculpture.

There is a smaller 300' gallery located on the third floor which exhibiting 12 shows a year featuring new and experimental artists.

The VAC also offers education programs maintained by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts.

Visit this quiet little spot and pick up some really reasonably priced local art. Great for an afternoon visit. Came home with a lovely watercolor and hope to visit again for more.
