Once you're done shopping the shops in the Historic downtown of Newport, do yourself a favor and take a walk along the waterfront boardwalk. You'll see lots of fishing and crab boats, smell the smell of the sea, hear the sea lions and seagulls talk amongst themselves, and experience the quintessential Oregon coast town. Parking can be a pain, so... More

The bayfront is a fun place to watch the sea lions and wander little odd shops. It is a little smelly but that is to be fully expected.

It's near the town of Newport. You can get some candy at a local candy store and go watch the boats and the sunset.

High points Good view of harbor Several places have access directly above the water which is especially appealing for children Some interesting places to eat and shop along the bay front Low points Very touristy Many of the shops have average to low quality items for sale Very limited parking 6 of 10

Sure, the Newport Bayfront is chock-a-block with tacky souvenir shops, T-shirt emporiums, and other tourist attractions, but it is also a working commercial fishing port. You can watch the busy fishing boats, see the packing houses, and stroll out on the pier to observe the hundreds of resident sea lions basking and barking on the wharves.

There are a number of shops and attractions as well as a working fishing dock. There were also seals and assorted birds to watch. Very entertaining

Spent the morning walking through the Bayfront. Fun, delightfully quaint shops and restaurants line one side of the street and working fish processors line the other. The sounds of sea lions, passing boats and normal traffic all blend together to enhance the experience. Very busy on the weekends.

This was an interesting stop. The area offered the typical souvenir shops but also had a fresh fish market where you could get the freshest crab walk-away; great! There were quite a few local fishermen around to chat with and I was told 'Deadliest Catch' will be filming a new season there soon. Fun adventure, short walk.

Walk along the marina, eat at one of many restaurants, visit a museum. A pleasant atmosphere, a combination of tourist traps and actual working fishing enterprises.
