Lots of activity in this working area of the pretty bay. Some of the buildings are pretty tired, but if you're a landlubber, this is a worthwhile stop. They could dress up the historic area a bit more and I'd happily give it five stars....More

There was not much happening when we arrived (later in the day; October) We ended up here because I heard sea lions barking. We followed the sound and found where they hang out! I think we stayed and watched for a good 40 minutes. My...More

Mixed in with local restaurants and kitschy tourist shopping are working fishing boats and other businesses. Narrow side walks and old world charm with plenty of (off season) parking.

Lots of fun shops and things to do in Newport's Historic Bayfront! We had been there before so stopped in to walk a bit and see the sea lions again. Parking can be challenging and the smell not so rosy :)

The bayfront is full of fishing boats, seals, restaurants, shops. You can spend half a day walking around here. We left after havingvlunch at a great restaurant. Great oportunity for pictures, lots of boats bringing crabs and people also catching crabs at the decks.

Went here on a rainy day. Lots of gift shops and seafood restaurants. Highlights were the seal docks where you can get pretty close to seals basking in the sun and fighting for a place on a dock. Also, was the chance to see workers...More

There are at least two docks on the north side of the bay (where the sea lions congregate) where you can fish and crab.

I also saw people with fishing gear on the pier. I would sure check the local laws or risk a fine and confiscation of your stuff. Google would be a good start.
