Welcome aboard Marine Discovery Tours - Oregon's #1 Whale & Sea Life...

Welcome aboard Marine Discovery Tours - Oregon's #1 Whale & Sea Life Cruise! Whether you're traveling solo or with a group, we'd love to share our "Floating Adventure" endorsed by the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

Teams of professional and friendly captains and naturalists tell stories that range from gray whales and other coastal sea life to the seasons of Oregon's largest fishing fleet! Fun activities await, as "volunteer deckhands" help with catch and release crabbing, plankton pulls with microscope viewing and navigation lessons. We are local experts who are passionate about delivering a fun, safe activity - you can count on our captain's seasoned knowledge to find the calmest routes on our ocean, bay and river ecosystems.

We specialize in marine education field trips for over 7,000 students, annually. Tour groups love our "stretch limo" vessel with a heated cabin for all, seating and complimentary coffee and tea! We're happy to offer exclusive charters for Special Events from reunions to Celebrations of Life/Ashes at Sea - take over the Discovery as your own!

Our cruise season is March - October - advance reservations are always a good idea!

Thanks so much for the awesome words - Our naturalists & captains love to spin the stories, fun activities and safety focus we deliver! Always happy to celebrate special events aboard the Discovery - glad you got to join us on your anniversary :) Springtime Oregon Coast is truly fun to explore - still a bit chilly out there, so... Fun little cruise first up the river, and then out to sea. We went along with a school group (we were given fair warning!) and it was a blast. We saw birds, seals, sea lions and 2 gray whales. We dredged up crabs and misc. critters, learned about sealife, admired the underside of the Yaquina Bay Bridge, enjoyed the views,... More

I actually live on a sailboat and the Marine Discovery Tours goes right past my boat daily. I hear the marine education commentary as they approach. I sometimes hop out of my boat to say Hi to Captain Dan.

We took this tour in October. Only saw three whales very briefly long ways away. My wife and I thought the tour would go further out into the ocean. We saw more whales at Otter Crest Loop before and after our boat tour. The tour guide did a great job keeping group entertained and share cultural aspects of bay and... More

Wonderful staff! We had so much fun! We saw 3 whales. Make sure you go on a good weather day when there is little to no fog and bring a sweater or coat. They don't let you bring pets but they will watch your pet for you if it is friendly at their gift shop. They let the kids put... More

This marine tour was SO interesting! We spent part of the time out on the sea, and saw several grey whales, which feed in the area; and learned about the local crab and jellyfish populations. The captain, who was retired from the coast guard, and our naturalist, explained all about the bay and the coastal waters, and answered our questions.... More

2 hours of Ocean experience and education on the town and buildings in Newport. Our guide was born and raised in Newport and a Marine Biologist. Our Captain was retired Coast Guard of 23 years. Saw a whale, scrabbled egg jelly fishes and had a roller coaster of a ride out over the bar. Hang on, it's going to be... More

We took this tour with my wheelchair bound husband and the staff were so accommodating. We saw whales and other marine mammals. The crab pots were fun and the crew were very good at getting everyone involved. I highly recommend this tour.

Husband and I just spent 10 days of vacation on the Oregon Coast. We are from Western Montana and the only thing we had planned/reserved for our trip was our campground locations. We spent time from Astoria to Coos Bay and have to say that our last minute decision while in Newport to take a whale watching tour with the... More

We randomly decided to buy tickets for this attraction and were not disappointed. The boat was clean, the staff was excited to be there and you could tell they loved what they did (and knew what they were doing!). We saw 6 different whales including a famous local whale called Scarback. Glad we were spontaneous! Learned a lot and got... More
