It's immediately adjacent to Highway 101, so it is a quick and easy stop -- and well worth a few minutes of your time. It's a very nice idea to have this kind of veterans memorial in plain sight, instead of off the beaten path. The sponsors took a lot of care in designing it, and someone takes a lot... More

Great view. They have added picnic tables and are reinforcing the bank from erosion which improves the stop. It is not large though and is very near the highway. It is popular with bicyclists and other 101 commuters. The turnoff is slightly tricky so be careful.

I'd been driving too long, it was past time to take a break and knock off the road dust so we pulled in to this spot overlooking the bay North of N. Bend. We had a pleasant lunch and enjoyed the view. Afterwards we strolled around and realized that this spot was actually a memorial to American soldiers. Talk about... More

Stopped here on 08/02. The memorial is located just north of the junction to Horsefall Beach, on the westside of the 101. It is worth your time to stop and observe the tributes in stone. The backdrop is breathtaking, McCullough Bridge and Coos Bay to the south and the dunes to the west and north. ***A CAUTION, HWY 101 IS... More

Although this is small in size it provides views to calm the sole and lift your heart. Located on the shoulder of 101 you can see Haynes Inlet, Horsfall area, the sand dunes, McCullogh bridge and the Pacific Ocean without getting lost.

The memorial is on the shore of an inlet at the southern end of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. It's easy to miss when you're driving along U.S. 101, although it's a wayside along that highway. It's a beautiful setting, with the water and sand dune views, and a beautiful tribute to veterans who sacrificed their lives for our... More

Good place for a convenient stop along 101. Nice setting. I wouldn't drive out of the way to visit this alone, but if you're coming into the area it's a nice place to stop and pay your respects.

Even if you just pull in for a snack or to make a phone call (as I was this time), this lovely memorial is a pleasant place to stop. I appreciate the sentiments and the view and try to always leave a few dollars in the contribution box.

Local group did a great job putting together. It really services as a reminder and honors or Vet's. A few words of caution, when an event is held here be careful accessing the leaving the parking area, Hwy 101 traffic will not see ya when you stopped in the lane waiting to turn or pulling out! Also, the parking is... More
