I'm glad most kayakers haven't discovered this great location (Oops, I may be blowing it here). The bay is sheltered, beautiful, diverse, and easily accessible. I'd call it "World Class", but then I haven't kayaked the whole world (yet).

Very nice spot. Great views of the coast. Highly recommend! The only disappointment was the lack of armed occupiers. I thought that all refuges in Oregon had occupiers... Seriously though it's worth the stop!

This place is beautiful. Look out overlooking green pastures where tons of birds are. Make sure to bring your binoculars. When ur done at the viewing station go to the board then drive up the hill and walk the trail to the observation deck. Its well worth the walk. The deck itself is a work of art. But then you... We picked a good day to paddle, and even if we were a bit off on our tide timing, we still had fun. Harbor seals were beached at several locations,we saw gull, Herons, Murelttes, Terns and fish everywhere we looked. It was an enjoyable couple of hours. the boat launch was busy, but the boaters were courteous, and didn't seem... More

A nice hike it you're driving by, but not a destination on its own. Trail is very accessible. Paved walkway. Washroom at parking lot.

We called last minute when passing by on our way to Green Acres Horseback Riding. Connie answered and was very helpful and quite pleasant. She was able to set us up with three quads for a two hour ride on the dunes. They deliver and pick the quads up after your ride. We had been in Oregon for our family... More

Really not much wildlife to see, but a newer and well laid out refuge. New planting in the last year will pay off down the line. You can park in a lot at the bottom of the hill and walk up the road. You can drive to the parking lot on the top, but the walk up is nice and... More

Wheelchair accessible! 2 wildlife and view points. Definitely worth the drive and then short walk to the top. The walk is paved and completely handicapped accessible. Recent visit we saw eagles, deer, fantastic bird life, and a seriously fantastic view of the Nestucca river, bay, Haystack Rock, and Pacific City. Would make a beautiful location for a small wedding, or... More

We visited for an hour on May 21st, and saw virtually no wildlife or birds. We saw a robin or two, then a snake on the trail.....nothing else. The view of Cape Kiwanda from atop the refuge is definitely nice!
