Maybe Portland's most wonderful park. Hilly, open, good views, surrounded by an interesting residential neighborhood and the 5,000 acre Forest Park. In the middle of Washington Park is a rose garden, fabulous Japanese Garden, and the important Holocaust Memorial.

Washington park is a very, very big park with Huuuge trees and it is for everyone, it does not have a huge wall around it but you feel like you are away from the big big city and in the middle of a very, very big forest. ...and no I am not going to show my taxes.

We used to love going to Washington Park. The city has limited the ease of access and is now charging for parking. It seems anything of value that we already pay taxes for has to be a monetary resource for the city. Half of the access streets are now closed off. It seems that the city wants it to become... More

Friends and I walked around Washington park and enjoyed the trails. We found the posted trail maps very confusing as trails criss-crossed over each other and the road system to the Oregon zoo. We started at the Oregon zoo (from max train station) and wanted to walk one direction back to downtown. We are all from Alaska and we are... More

I love this park. It has lovely grassy knolls perfect for a picnic, walking trails through lovely wooded terrain and it is adjacent the rose gardens, which offer further grounds for walking, picnic, simply relaxing, etc. This park is situated in SW Portland right above downtown. Super easy to make this a part of your Portland visit and well worth... More

The Park has a number of attractions- the two that can be combined in one easy visit are the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden. The Rose Garden has one of the most dramatic views of Portland and the Cascade Mountains in the distance. Also the home of 100's of different, award-winning roses. The Japanese Garden is one of the... More

Washington Park is a Portland Icon and is an amazing environment to explore on so many levels. The park houses the famous Rose Garden, Oregon Zoo, Forestry Center and the Children's museum, along with miles of trails that you into the backcountry of Portland's back yard. Whether you go for the Max Train ride to the deepest tunnel station in... More

I grew up going to Washington park. I love getting lost, lazing around and eventually stumbling back into the city. It offers wonderful views, an AMAZING Japanese Garden, a lovely rose garden, free tennis courts and shuttles to the Hoyt Arboretum, the zoo and the max. There are plenty of places to hike, cycle or picnic. There is an amphitheater... More
