They really need better parking, all the lots were full. But it is a beautiful place to walk and relax, once you find a safe place.

We spend almost the whole day in the park from one garden to another. Don't miss the free rose garden. The Japanese Tea Garden was just complete (2017) and it perfect. We also walked in the park back to the city and worth the walk.

This is a wonderful park right I. The middle of the city. There are tons of things to see and do. It's relatively walkable, but a free shuttle bus makes it even more convenient. Parking can be difficult and one shouldn't be too picky.

We took the hop on hop off bus to the park. Many people also too Ubers. There were people using a free shuttle, but I'm not sure if that was just for inside the park. There is so much to do here: the rose garden,...More

Great place to escape for a few hours, take a walk, visit the zoo, see the forestry center. Easy access from public transportation.

Between beautiful gardens, natural open spaces and engaging attractions there are many ways to spend a day at Washington Park. We prioritized the Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, and hiking. It was a full day of beautiful sights and exploration. Parking is hard to find, so...More

Wow, roses, roses, ton of roses…. various kinds, colors, shapes, sizes and so forth. (See the pictures I posted) What a beautiful scene! The Park did “promise a rose garden” as the song has said!

One quick Max Light Rail trip to Washington Park and we enjoyed the Oregon Zoo (quite quaint), the rose garden and a pleasant tour around the park by shuttle. Great experience for families :)

A park, a zoo, a rose garden, a Japanese garden and much much more. We went on the hottest day of the year. While Portland was sweltering at 100 plus, we enjoyed the breeze in Washington Park. Great drives thru the trees (watch out of...More

Here is so much to do there! Many museums and lots of nature to look at. It has the beautiful International Rose Test Garden and Oregon Zoo.

Hi there. The park is huge and the Zoo is on the opposite end from the Gardens. You could walk it if you felt spry, but I would suggest driving since you have your children with you. They have several places to park in and... More

I agree with Dan D. - it depends on your preferences. We enjoy staying in NW Portland in the Pearl District, because of the restaurants and accessibility to Washington Park. It's all so close you can hike then walk to... More
