It's a large bookstore that you can lose yourself in if you enjoy bookstores. The two titles I wanted weren't in stock. Staff know their way around and are good for looking up titles or directing you to aisles. Bathroom wasn't very clean.

Whenever we go downtown Portland, we go to Powells. The smell of old and new books mixed with all the eclectic people who also frequent there, it's the best book store in Portland! No one can leave Powells without at least buying one book. It's a great place to find the used books and new books. Powells has a great... More

Awesome place to visit for the book lover. You could spend a entire rainy day there. They also have a awesome coffee shop. Highly recommended.

Giant book store! They had used and new books for a very cheap price. Also, I got lost for 2 hour in there and the coffee shop did not help. Bring money so many cute stuff there too:)

I always hit Powell's when I'm in Portland. America's greatest bookstore. Spectacular contemporary fiction and US history.

If you like book stores you must stop in. It's overwhelming how many books are in this building. I wish I could have had more time to spend here as I could have easily made a day of it.

They say this is the world's largest independent bookstore, and I believe it. If you're a book lover you could spend all day here. There is room after room of new and used books, but everything is organized so that you can find areas of interest to you without aimlessly wandering unless you want to do that. If you just... More
