Portland's Japanese Garden welcomes visitors from many nations who enjoy nature's beauty in the Pacific Northwest. To get the most from your visit, take time to stroll, then sit on the abundant benches and look around, and breathe deeply. I recommend that you don't rush...More

Wonderful experience with the nice Japanese garden I've experienced. Hate to say it, though, try to go when school is IN so that you don't have screaming kids disturbing the tranquility.

A bit of a trek to get to on foot from the Downtown area, but once there it's a pretty nice garden with ample stuff to see and check out. Even with the loads of visitors that day, I still managed to find empty spots...More

The Japanese Garden is a beautiful, authentic, serene place in Portland. Located in Washington Park in is convenient to downtown. You can ride the train to the Zoo and during peak seasons there is a shuttle to the garden. While there the Rose Garden and...More

We visited the Japanese Garden on a hot July day in the middle of the day, but the walk thru the garden was still very pleasant. We started out as part of a tour, but the tour group was so big and the tour guide...More

The expanded Japanese Garden is one of the most peaceful places I know. You must go. I have been there several times; I always take out of town guests there. Once in awhile I will take a book and go up about 10 in the...More

Visited late morning. Perfect timing as it became crowded after being there an hour. Take a tour. Lots of good stories about the meaning of fountains & design. Beautiful!

After the renovations we have enjoyed the gardens even more. The new area around the buildings is impressive. The gardens were spruced up, but I do not think it was updated too much. Join as a member and get the benefit of coming as many...More

The garden was fine but I thought the price was a bit high considering we were finished in about 15 minutes. The cafe looked nice but there was a 40 minute wait so we didn't get a chance to eat there. This is the top...More

This park is located in Washington Park right near the rose garden, so we decided to visit. Entrance fee is rather steep. That being said, the grounds are gorgeous and provide a beautiful respite. Wear suitable footwear as some areas are rocky/uneven.

Parking is a nightmare, but try to get a spot near the holocaust memorial in the park. It's your best bet. I think it was around $3/hr to park. No outside food or drink was allowed

I believe the remodel does solve the accessibility problem. There's a bus that can take you up the initial hill at the entrance. There's a flat plaza area at the top. The small restaurant there had no stairs - I believe it... More
