Took my little dog on this hike and it was sweet. Trails are marked well and easy to orient and get back to your car when you need to. A lovely hike to get away from the city for a bit and be among tree...More

Next to Powell;s Books, this might be the mist unique and valuable place in Portland. There are miles of paths, the longest over 3 miles on one loop. There are paths for people, with or without dogs, bikes, and horses. Going on a path allows...More

This is another one of Portland's close-in forest parks -- lots of acres, and miles of trails -- some are paved and some are not. Looks like horses are allowed on some trails, and bikes on the paved trails. Beautiful way to welcome spring --...More

Can't believe I've lived here so long and haven't hiked here before! Feels like you're miles from home, out in nature. Trails, streams, wooden bridges, gorgeous moss covered trees. Didn't get to the nature center...saving that for another day!!! Can't wait!!

We came to this park on a field trip with pre-schoolers. It is a HUGE park with many pathways. You are exposed to nature and animals, sweet staff.

Great place to take young children and dogs hiking. Beautiful and many easy walking trails. Spring and summer is the best time!

Beautiful park! But, it tends to get busy on any nice day. If you're looking for quiet solitude, it may be hard to find. Not a very stroller friendly park. Trails are rough and narrow in spots.

This is the largest state park inside a city of this size. So large, so lovely. They have an interpretive center, walks among the forest with ferns and moss, a cafe, restrooms and a gift shop. Lots of tourists. Really lovely, well conceived and executed....More

OK, so I'm biased -- I live 1.5 miles away, so there's the convenience factor. It's pretty cool to be so close to a state park within the city boundaries for a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of urban life. You'd never know...More
