Had been wanting to visit and finally did; it is an amazing and creative use of land. It is a devotion to the Blessed Mother but you need not be Catholic to appreciate this. If you are in Portland, do it!

The Grotto is beautiful, moving and a great place to relax, meditate and unwind. Take your time walking through the entire place. Did not visit the top park, it was $10. There is no charge to enter the lower level.

The natural surroundings and quiet only lend to the prayerfulness, spirituality and beauty of The Grotto. It is such a welcoming and beautiful spot for anyone, religious or not, though especially enjoyed by this Catholic/Christian.

We did not pay to go to the upper level, but as practicing catholics my husband and I enjoyed walking the stations of the cross and sitting in the chapel. Very peaceful, clean, and worth a stop if you are looking for some peaceful meditation.
