This is one of my favorite inner city sanctuaries (although it can get busy in summer). nice green space in kind of a hollowed out area. Peaceful fountain and a great place for a summer time lunch.

and nestled in a bunch of huge downtown apartment buildings near the streetcar. The cascade is refreshing and you are barred to walk or play in it but many children do not listen. Near the original site of the founding of Portland.

This nicely thought out park is behind the PSU Engineering building, between two high-rise apartment buildings and a business strip. It's fountain includes cascading water and pools that are a favorite for the children of apartment dwellers in the heat of the summer. There are so many different urban parks in downtown Portland. I was really struck by how serene the Lovely Fountain Park is. Even though it was cool and spitting rain, people were around enjoying the park.

Portland, and downtown in particular, has ample amounts of small parks, fountains, and public space for relaxing, reading, or hanging among our fellow beings.
