The entire rest of the city operates rather simply on a north-south, east-west grid that's fairly easy to navigate. Whenever I have to bike or walk through this particular neighborhood, I end up always feeling slightly ill at ease ... because I can never remember how to maneuver my way through the diagonals and circles with somewhat identical rose gardens in the center. I bike a ways and end up staring at another rose garden that looks somewhat like the last one, so that I feel like I am making little progress -- while all the time, I am drifting further and further away from my destination I want to find on Division or beyond. I'm usually looking out for zooming bicyclists to notice the nice old houses and trees ... let alone the roses. Usually, I just feel lost. The only exception is that I try to get down there once a year around this time (October or November) to walk in the fallen leaves, which I find oddly relaxing.

Take a walk, rent a bike or a scooter like we did to immerse yourself in the culture of Ladd's Addition. Uniquely layed out neighborhood with huge shade trees, historic homes, and the traffic circles are rose gardens and parks for the community to enjoy. Take a step back in time and bring along a picnic or book to read while you experience the most serene metropolitan neighborhood I've been in.

Take a walk around all the 5 gardens set like lovely stones in the diagonally planned streets; have tea at the center, roses in bloom or rain.

If you are interested old homes and old historical neighborhoods, you will thoroughly enjoy this! It reminds me of some of the beautiful old neighborhoods in Denver. It has a unique street plan with diagonals and circles, and several islands with nothing but roses and other taste;full landscaping. It's certainly a charming place to visit and even more so in which to live.. You will surely enjoy the homes and the gardens

This is a pretty neighbourhood with interesting houses, all different. Love the rose gardens and friendly people.

This little neighborhood had all we could ask for from Portland. Easy access to the sights and streetcars, great food, a quiet homey feel. If I lived in Portland, Ladd's would be home!

Within walking distance to many fine restaurants, close to downtown, very comfortable with a large shower. Check out VRBO #1070851

Blocks and blocks of beautiful vintage craftsmen homes meticulously cared for with beautiful gardens. Mixed in with the craftsmen homes are a few beautiful larger almost "Manor Homes".

Lucky you if this is part of your subdivision. I didn't find this park to be overwhelmingly beautiful but they are very nice thick rose bushes that are nice to drive by.

If you're not interested homes and neighborhoods, this may not be for you as there's not much to actually do here.
But if you are, and if you're nearby, check it out. It's a unique street plan with diagonals and circles, and several islands with nothing but roses and other landscaping. Very cute. Would be a charming place to live. The homes are beautiful too.
