It is really just an insanely fun thing to do and we had a great time. All the staff was great - from making our reservation with Jeff, to checking in with Noah to our instructor Jordan, everyone was warm, professional, and helped make it a memorable experience. Special shout out to Jordan for his skills in making everyone feel relaxed and confident and instilling a passion for future flying expeditions.

Entering the iFLY lobby we were met by a friendly guy at the counter. From there it only got better. We were greeted warmly by everyone and that helped make the "flying" experience even better than I thought it could be.
We were shown a safety video, given flight suits and helmets, and all questions we're answered. Then Chad stepped into the "wind tunnel" and off I went after him.
There was never a moment of feeling unsafe or out of control. Chad was GREAT! So patient and calming, always smiling and helpful.
The BEST feeling was when I first stepped to the door to go into the "wind tunnel" and leaned forward...and didn't fall. Just. Too. Cool!
We're going again as soon as we can.

We reserved a time slot at 5pm. We arrived 10 to 15 minutes early, so we wouldn't be late. There was a 2 minute check in, and then nothing. Apparently we were told to come in 30 minutes early, so we would have time to check in. Then there was a 5 to 10 minute training and suiting up. Followed by more waiting. As we waited, other families came in, changed, and started flying while we still waited. We were told that we would finally fly at 6pm. One hour after we got there. They did NOT tell us this when we booked the time slot at 5pm. And we still didn't fly after that. The people that came after us went over. So we waited even more. Why did I reserve time at 5pm, and tell the other kids parents to be there then too? We all sat around for over an hour doing nothing, watching people that arrived after us go before us. Do you want to ruin a fun time for a group of 11 year olds? Make them sit and wait for over an hour with NOTHING to do, for no reason. The kids started off excited, but that quickly faded after the first 30 minutes of sitting and waiting. They get a good memory, and we got good pictures, but it wasn't worth the headache of booking a time, and sitting there waiting for over an hour. Beware, when you book a time, don't expect to actually do anything for the first hour you're there. And you don't dare come late, because they make you pay when you make the reservation. If you're late, you probably lose the expensive fee for the flight. Are they just trying to extend your time there so they can upsell you more? Or so that they can feel better justifying $70 for 2 minutes of flying time?

Hello,
My name is Brittan Spencer and I am the General Manager at iFLY Portland. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the flight experience and the media you received to commemorate your flight. I also want to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
I apologize that you felt the wait time was excessive. We know our guest's time is precious and it is not our intent to take advantage of that. We do schedule guests based on arrival time, which is between 15-30 minutes prior to the class starting, to provide time for waivers and check-in before class.
We are always striving to improve our operations and provide as much transparency to our guests as possible. Your feedback indicates an opportunity for us to improve our communications with guests about the experience and process.
Thank you again for the feedback!

Gave this as a gift to a college student, and I just didn't walk away with a good feeling that we were treated equitably.
Signed up for the $69.95 beginners package - I noted that Seattle and Denver iFly have the same package for 59.95 and San Francisco (a high cost area) has it for $61.95. When we showed up we were presented with a $9.95 upsale for a "Flying High" experience. We took it.
Everything else went as advertised except that the people in the 5:30 group were given flight times of 1 min 40 sec while the 6:00 group and the 5:00 group were only given flight times of 1 min exactly. Talked to a member of the 5:30 group and they paid the same as we did. Apparently the difference in the amount of flight time depends on how many people are in your group. So I guess the secret is to try to be in small groups but there is no way to tell that. This is un-equitable treatment.
I looked over the web sites and there is no where that a definition of what is a flight or how long one is so we probably weren't cheated - but I would not return without a clearer definition of what we can expect for the money.
The Flight instructor was Kirk, and he was excellent. He knew how to get all 12 of the people in the 6:00 flight to perform well and have a good time without constantly man-handling them - In him I was impressed and would recommend him.
All in all - only a average experience. If they are trying to get people to participate frequently, the beginners package should have the "upsale" experience included in the package - it costs no extra labor or materials and significantly increases the excitement factor. Without the "Upsale" nick and flight time differences - this could have been a superior experience.

In retrospect, I believe that two factors limited my enjoyment of the experience.
First, having some experience skydiving, I expected to go in and just fly. The instructor was more concerned (rightly so I guess) with making sure I could "hover". But this was not explained beforehand, (and as the video was cut off right after someone said "I want to just fly". I now expect that it was in the rest of the video.) As I was thinking more about the 2 minute time constraint, I was trying to get more out of my time and didn't realize what was expected out of me. Either way, the instructors communication level was severely lacking.
Instructor turned off intro video before it concluded, so I am not sure if it would have provided more info. If you aren't going to cover these issues personally beforehand, you should at least let the video finish.
Second, I am rather tall, and probably outweighed the instructor significantly. As such, he was unable to control my body as he is probably accustomed to. (and I didn't understand that he was trying to do so until halfway through). Notably, he apparently didn't realize that my feet kept hitting the sides of the tube. I was trying to center myself to keep this from happening, and he was throwing me back into the wall. At the same time, he was pulling on the jumpsuit, causing me to flip over. As he didn't explain prior to the flight what to expect, I just went with it, as it was sort of fun to flip over. This appeared to irritate him, and he forced me out of the tube halfway through my time. Again, I didn't know what he was trying to do and was just trying to fly since the counter still showed significant time left.
Once he got me out, I realized that he just wanted me to stay motionless and so I did so after that. Since I outweighed him, he then spent most of the time holding me to the metal grate on the ground in order to control me. So the second half of the experience was uneventful, though slightly boring as I spent most of the time laying on the ground.
So, A) poor communication of what was expected out of me, and what was going to happen. B) Instructor couldn't handle someone my size (6'3"+ 230 lbs.).
All in all, it was a disappointing experience.

We went here for my son’s birthday. It was modern and high tech. You get a chance to “fly” for one minute in their wind tunnel.
It’s a unique experience but I don’t feel it’s worth the price ($35 per minute). Also LOTS of high pressure upselling and trying to get you to add on. They offered a discount on future flights but only if you purchase that day. They have a discount for teachers, but it’s only good Monday-Friday, the days teachers are actually working.
So I don’t think I’ll be back. Too expensive and not quite worth it.

We spent 2 hours there just so my friend could fly for 2 minutes. Definitely not worth the money, I had thought about buying a bunch of flights as presents but not after my first experience. To be clear the staff was awesome, it's just the bang for your buck that's going to keep me away.

The iFLY instructors kept on trying to sell us a $10 'go up and down' experience. It's like $45 for a minute of flight time.

You may select the amount of fly time from various packages. The packages are divided up into minute sessions. So, if you have a four minute package, you would enjoy 4 sessions that are 1 minute each.
