The road up from the hwy 126 side is very twisty and tight. The observatory at the top is absolutely beautiful on a clear day. This is a must see if you are in the area

A must-do drive when in the area, although not for the nervous. My preference would be to approach the Dee Wright Observatory from the south west, on highway 126 joining the 242 - doing the circuit clockwise. Route 242 is a difficult and narrow road...More

We drove this loop in order to do sightseeing at several places, and while it was quite beautiful, it was also a challenging road due to MANY curves that seemed to occur mile after mile! It is not for those who are easily carsick!

It was a beautiful clear day in late June. The Three Sister's Peaks were gleaming with winter's past snow against azure skies. Mountain foliage very green and tender. Proxy Falls spendidly cascading. A troupe of skateboarders parading down through the steep narrow winding canopy. An...More

If the pass is open, the weather is decent, and you are not in too big of a rush to enjoy spectacular views then this is for you. The west entrance starts at 2000 feet, lots of windy roads with three inch shoulders, and massive...More

It's a totally safe road, but be aware of your speed. People driving too fast tend to stray into the other lane and onto the shoulder on curves. I ride it on a motorcycle several times a summer.......other drivers are the... More
