Scenic highway 30 runs parallel to I-84 along the Columbia River. Only about 30 miles long. A very nice vista stop at which point the road was closed and we had to backtrack to get around the closure, Two waterfalls and the Bonneville dam on the route were very pretty and the dam very educational.. The leaves were changing which... More

We drove eastward from Troutdale to Crown Point on Historic Hwy 30; and also along I-84 to the Mt. Hood turnoff. Both roads have spectacular views of the Colombia River Gorge. We were pleasantly surprised by the unique geology of the area.

This is one of 'the' places to visit or bring out of towners. The beautiful Gorge and river is a sight to behold on a clear day, a colorful Fall day--any day! It is a Must See !!

Don't know where to start - multnomah falls, bridal veil falls, horsetail falls, crown point. Its all simply beautiful and worth lingering, and definitely take the scenic highway. Get off I-84 and take your time. Its worth the hike up the trail to the bridge over Multnomah Falls. Even if its raining, or foggy, each view is breathtaking. Plan on... More

If you are visiting the Portland Oregon area driving along the Columbia River to see the many waterfalls, river and Hood River Dam is a must! Oregon has so much to see. How can you describe the sights, smell and beauty of all that is offered. You just have to go and discover for yourself!

This is a beautiful drive for an afternoon or morning. The view is spectacular. It is a two lane road, but hardly any traffic on most days.

I have a serious fear of heights, but I was able to do this ride with very few "hide my eyes" moments. And it was so worth it. There are falls near the road and some a short hike away and some a long hike away. Don't miss this this even if you have height issues.

we went up along the Columbia River on the Oregon side and stopped at alot of the beautiful water falls and then crossed over the bridge and came down along the Washington side of the river. Was a great sight.

I love driving down the Columbia River Highway. Start in beautiful downtown Troutdale, the gateway to the Columbia River Gorge, meander next to the Sandy River up the hill to Corbett, twist around down to the Vista House, down, twisting, down to the water falls. Love the West part of this drive!
