This drive is must when you are visiting Thai area. Gorgeous! Can be quite busy, so be aware this is a group activity;).

This drive travels along the Columbia River, past numerous waterfalls and trail heads. This is a federally protected drive for all the right reasons.

We loved to start in Corbet, stop at the Women's Forum overlook and the Gorge with Vista House in sight. Hopefully the area will come back as quickly as possible like the area around Mount St. Helen's did.

The scenic highway is a very nice way to see some sights. Go slow and watch for cyclists. And be ready to deal with lots of traffic.

It was a nice, scenic drive. There are various roads the branch off and stops along the way to see the river and even views of Mt. Hood.

I make a lot of trips. I see a lot of places. If you're in the Portland area, this is a MUST do for your list. Waterfalls, River views, river boats, McMenamins.

This is such a wonderful day trip. The highway has a rich history and it is definitely worth the time. Some waterfalls can be seen from the street and don't even require a hike. Roads are narrow at times so be careful . Restrooms located...More

Great day trip with lots to see and enjoy. The old and historic Columbia Highway offers some of the most breath taking sights around. Stop and enjoy magficient waterfalls, grand vistas overlooking the Columbia River and enjoy the nearby restaurants.

I've lived in Oregon since 1974 and it's always worthwhile stop at the aptly named Vista House at Crown Point. It's accessible whether you are traveling east or west on I-84 on the old Columbia Hwy. It can be slow going to reach especially on...More

Get off the highway and take the old road. The views and vistas are awesome. Stop at the smaller waterfalls where traffic and parking are less a problem but just as lovely.

Buying food in Portland before you get into the Gorge would be a good idea as there are not that many places on the scenic highway. I would not recommend the Tippy canoe, but check it out for yourself, overpriced and not... More
