It is a beautiful trip on an very old 2 lane road. Many areas to pull over to take a nice, short hikes. Make sure you stop at Multnomah falls. Try to hike to the top, its worth the effort.

With sights like Multnomah Falls, The Vista House and stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge, the Highway is a very popular place for visitors. As beautiful as the fijords in Norway.

Almost all "best drives" books list this drive out of Portland, starting in Troutdale, and with good reason. Seeing the View House and the waterfalls along the Oregon side of the Columbia are sights not to be missed.
