The entire Columbia River Highway (known as the Old Highway to locals) is a fantastic piece of transportation history. By car, motorcycle or bicycle it is impressive year-round.

It is truly a national treasure. If I was a truck driver I would pay someone to drive this route. I am glad it's so close to Portland. I like to drive to Hood River in summer, see the Surfing Kites, acrobatics on water, some...More

A trip through the Northwest would be incomplete without experiencing the vistas along the Columbia River Gorge. The views of the river from the highway are spectacular, surrounded as it is by tall, forrested basalt cliffs, dotted with numerous waterfalls and cascades. These may be...More

All gorgeous and one of Oregons real treats. The new freeway provides a fast trip up the Columbia river gorge, but for a real treat take the narrow twisty old scenic highway. Many beautiful waterfalls, nice spots to stop. All great from Troutdale (outside Portland...More

This is the original road to Portland, from the east. Lots of waterfalls to see, right along the road. A slow drive, but worth it! Stop at the Vista House!

What a fun scenic drive one of the most beautiful areas this country has to offer! The view from Crown Point is amazing and you can drive it all the way to Multnomah Falls, recommended for any first time visitor to the Columbia River Gorge!

Unless its winter and iced over, this is one of the best drives around. Take the old highway for magnificent journey by stunning waterfalls.
