Blast from the past

This was great when it was open. The Codfather has returned to Norway and I have to get my Norwegian fish from ALDI now.

Yo, this place is finito, kaput, sayanara, color it gone!!! Not sure when or why but today you will find a wonderful little art gallery run by Council for the Arts. If you go to 81 N. Main St. in search of cod you will be highly disappointed but fortunate just the same to experience the expressions of local artists.

Great selection of cheese, meats, olives, etx. They are very friendly and happy to let you sample things before you buy. A treasure of a store!

I almost missed the entrance to the Norwegian Codfather. However once inside we were pleasantly surprised with the customer care and attention that was encountered. As lovers of all cheese the Codfather has a nice selection from around the world. Not being sure exactly which we would buy the salesperson offered us the opportunity to sample several. After we settled... More

I gave this place a few chances but I'm not impressed. When you first walk in there are a few shelves with overpriced European groceries. The deli products are just ok and you'll pay an arm and a leg for meats and cheeses. The owners are strange and stare at you the entire time you're shopping and have poor customer... More

Delightful, quirky, personal, friendly, attractive...we loved this place. We stopped in for sandwiches and we felt like they were lovingly packed by our mom with fresh bread, freshly sliced salami, homemade red pepper paste, Norwegian kraut, seasoned olives, and chips in a great little takeout box. They even gave us a soda, and wouldn't charge us for it. He suggested... More

Love this place to find those items that you just need to have when trying to making a special dish or surprise your neighbors during Octoberfest! Have been here on several occasions and I agree, owners are always welcoming and always pleasantly surprised on the different merchandise/food items that they carry. Very helpful and great addition to our town!! Love... More

We visit family in Chambersburg, saw an ad for this place and stopped in. The owner is so very friendly and really made us feel at home. He offered us a few samples of cheese, salami, and candy. The selection and prices are wonderful. We are big cheese eaters and many of his cheeses are less costly per pound than... More

Owners are friendly and very helpful but not pushy. Have some very good cheeses that are not the same as what are at big stores.

Made it a point to stop at this store while traveling through Pennsylvania. This small shop carries food not only from Scandinavia but across Europe. The owners were extremely friendly and provided tastings of some excellent soppressata plus other tasty meats and cheeses. We bought some nice Hungarian salami and some excellent provolone. There's lots of good stuff in there... More
