Wildwood Park is located in the rolling hills of central Pennsylvania on the outskirts of downtown Harrisburg. Its 229 acres are a haven for countless species of flora and fauna centered around the 90 acre freshwater wetland. A popular three-mile loop trail encircles the park with side trails and boardwalks for a total of six miles of trails. Its attractive Olewine Nature Center features engaging exhibits on environmental education. Established in 1901, during the City Beautiful Movement, Wildwood was part of a nationwide effort to improve urban life. In 1976, the Dauphin County Commissioners assumed ownership of the property. Now managed by Dauphin County Parks and Recreation Department, Wildwood Park is one of Pennsylvania’s premier centers for environmental studies, educational opportunities and outdoor recreation. It is a cherished retreat for nature lovers, bird watchers and exercise enthusiasts.

My wife and I like to take walks on Sunday mornings. With the weather being so hot, we were looking for somewhere shady. After reading about Wildwood Park, we decided to give it a try. Absolutely perfect!! Great walking trails, shady, lots of birds and animals to view. Highly recommended.

My Father and I walked the park every day of our visit in Harrisburg. It is a beautiful, peaceful place, with lots of beautiful plants and wildlife. This place is a little gem that you shouldn't pass up!

a bit surprised at the number of people raving about the peace and quiet... this is the loudest park i've ever been to. i'm very glad it's there, it's better than nothing, and they have done some nice work... it's great if you want some exercise. but you never feel like you're really in nature... the highway noise (throughout the... I love Wildwood Park. It's squeezed in between an interstate, a busy state road, and trucking concerns. It's like a little slice of nature that couldn't be squeezed out. There's a main trail that circumnavigates the park and is pretty close to a 5K. Then there are other various trails, some of which take you down along the lake on... More

This is a nature preserve right in the middle of highways, roads, and traffic. Once you get into it, you forget all about what is around it. There is a nature center with things for the kids. They have checklists you can take with you to mark what you see. Maps of the trails are also available. There are boardwalks,... More

Lived five minutes away and love taking my dog and walking around to see the animals and nature. It's very serene and well kept.

We decided to check out this park on a whim since we wanted to explore the outdoors for a bit. I don't know about other people but our gps made us go in circles to arrive there - which turned out to be the most annoying thing. Since park is located right next to the highway the entrance was a... More

Some friends and I were looking for something to do outdoors in Harrisburg while waiting for our kids who were at a camp. I was so surprised at what a wonderful place Wildwood Park turned out to be. Wonderful walking trails into the woods and along ponds, nature as far as can be seen. A perfect place for families to... More
